Can't get hub assy. into rotor..
I went and got a new napa hub since my d-side hub was going bad and then went to autozone and got 8 new studs. I also just went and bought a new duracraft brand i believe rotor from autozone. So i go to slide the hub into the rotor there is the four ears on the backside of the hub that slide into the 4 slots on the rotor. Okay, so i figure it would just slide right in, of course not i beat the hell outta it with a rubber mallet and its clear the rotor is either a little mis-machind or its just a tight fit to get the hub to slid into the rotor. Do you have to have the hub pressed into the rotor? This job is turning in to a pita. **** poor design it seems like compared to my brothers 01 ctd. Can someone please let me know if this is normal about the two metals scraping into each other when trying to put the hub into the rotor, or should it just slide right in?

How did the old rotor and hub asemmbly come apart. My 99 the rotor is loose and slips on and off like a breeze. Did you have to beat the old one off. I dont think it should be that tight af a fit. Never heard of these trucks needing to press rotors on and off.

On the early ones , mine a 94 they where pressed on
Some people say that they are one unit ?
I've had mine hub & rotor off to do the u-joint , haven't had to do either seperatly yet , I've been led to beleave that mine & maybe your still are a 1 unit replacement , not sure when but newer the rotors can be change .

I've never had to have the hub pressed in, just beat the studs down that contain it.
If you still have the old hub I'd do a comparison to see whats hanging it up.

just got back from my grandpops and my brother got it together. I had to file probly 1/32 or less off certain parts on the inside of the new rotor. Was just a tad to tight to let the hub slide in. Once we got it in just used the impact and a washer to pull the studs through. Its a heavy assy. all pieced together i guess that makes it stronger than the newer syle like my brothers where his rotor just slides over the studs on the hub. Anyways thanks for the quick responses i really appreciate it.

A brand new rotor should fall right onto a brand new hub/bearing assy. I'd be worried about excessive rotor runout if they were that difficult to assemble. You might want to measure it with a dial indicator after it's installed on the truck. Also, make sure you recheck the wheel torque a couple times after driving.
