bad oil leak fromturbo oil drain
i just got my turbo replaced on warranty and when i got the truck home i looked under the front end and saw a large puddle of oil and a steady stream coming from the drain. i checked the dip stick and the oil level is between the end of the stick and the add mark. Will it hurt the engine by running it with the level that low cause I'm gonna have it towed back to the dealer tomorrow and need to know if any damage could have happened.

TTT and the morons didn't even change the oil in it either they just marked down that it was dirty and needed changed. i guess the truck was just as mad as i was and decided to start changing it itself. I guess if you want something done right you have to do it yourself

I'm sure your engine is fine, but I would not drive it like that. The dealer screwed up by not running the truck & "looking for leaks". They should owe you something. Insist they change the oil & filter for sure.

thanks. the truck is due for an oil change but i didn't change it before i took it in because i assumed that it would be common practice to change the oil when putting on a new turbo after a failure

That, or they didnt scrape all the old gasket material off the drain tube. A little old gasket can make for a heckuva leak. I have used anaerobic sealant on the last 3 or 4 turbo swaps. Works just as well as a gasket, and it comes off a lot easier than a gasket.
But,were I in your shoes, I'd probably go to the dealer and do some chewing. Make sure they pay your tow bill, too. Another reason to do stuff yourself, or at least pop the hood and check where they were working before you leave.

thanks guys, i got it back tonight and everything seems to be good now. I bet that they didn't even drive it after it was in the shop the first time. Man the truck has so much more power with that new turbo its like night and day that old one was completly shot.
