APPS or CPK???

APPS or CPK???
Hi folks. I've got a '99 2500 4x4, and lately it has been losing power. Sometimes it happens when I first take off, and sometimes (randomly) going down the highway. RPM's don't drop, but there is an immediate loss of power. Sometimes, releasing and reapplying the accelerator causes it to "kick back in", but sometimes I have to let off the accelerator for quite a few seconds. It seems to have gotten worse, and can happen again after about 15-20 seconds! I've searched through this site (and it's truly AWESOME!), but haven't been able to determine exactly what the problem is. I've tried the APPS reset mentioned here, but that didn't fix it.

Could it be the APPS is going bad, or maybe the CPK? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm tryin' real hard to not have to take 'er in to the dealer. Also, I can't get the codes to come out on my odometer, so that isn't helping me much.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Teddy

Mine is doing the same thing. i do not however have a CKP sensor. If your tachometer stops functioning at the time of power loss it is probobly the CPK sensor.

I am going to get the scanner hooked up at the dealer @ 2 o'clock and see what he comes up with and I will let you know.

Well, I took a chance and replaced the CKP last night, and it seemed to fix the problem! Thanks to everybody that posted suggestions, both past and current, particularly CattleHauler for his step-by-step instructions on replacing the part. Everything went smooth.

Thanks again!!!
