99 Dodge 3500 Rear End Problem

On tight turns, rear end acts like it is binding up. Pops and clicks. It has limited slip. Otherwise driving straight, seems fine. Pulls 25' gooseneck flat deck to 20 K. Havn't taken it back to dealer yet. 125K miles 24 V Cummins 5 speed

Have you had the fluid changed recently? When I had mine changed, they forgot the LS additive and about 3-4 days later, it was a mess - exactly what you are describing - expecially around right-hand corners. To fix the problem, I drained the fluid, put new fluid in with the LS additive, and in a few days, it was good as new.

HTH
-joel
I have not changed the fluid yet. Just checked it a few days ago. Showed full. Magnet in cap did not have any metal on it.

Welcome "Billy Bob" from another '99 Training Wheeled truck.
Is this a "new to you" truck?
If so the previous owner or service department may have changed the fluid before you got it.
What you describe sounds like the rear LS clutches chattering.
I'd try a rear fluid change (unless it was just done recently), find a large empty parking lot, do 7 or 8 figure "8s" to force the new fluid into the clutches and add just enough Friction Modifier as needed to prevent the chatter.
Too much F.M. will prevent the LS from locking.

Not new to me! Bought new, pulled duelly bed off and put flatbed on it. Drove it 75K, then sold to my son. Now own '02 Quad Cab 4 x 4. Dealer serviced '99 last week, oil change, lube, & filter. Checking today to see if they serviced rear end. Will change fluids and try your advice. Thanks

If they changed the rear fluid, chances are they either didn't add the Friction Modifier, or didn't do the figure 8s to force the fluid into the clutches.
