99 dead on side of road.

Just died going down the road. LP not running. Checked by cracking line and running pump. Put new LP on. Truck now starts and idles fine. But runs very rough when peddle applied. Any ideas? This is a pipeliners work truck. If it ain't running, he ain't getting paid.

Almost exactly what mine done when the VP croaked. It would start and idle, but would sputter and die when the pedal was pushed. Has he checked the codes? If he gets a 1688, the VP is dead.

Wonder what it is with the 99's here lately I haven't had VP problems but the LP got me earlier this year and now I got to an oil pressure sensor gone south cause the gauge went on the fritz's yesterday on the way home.

He ended up taking it do a repair shop. I figured it was the VP. How do you check the codes on a 99?

You have to have a code reader or a Smarty. Something like the Actron's that Auto Zone uses.

Haven't heard yet, but I imagine it's going to be the VP. The truck is in Colorado and belongs to a co-worker of my brother.

Update:
Yep, it was the VP. Also has a crack in the joint between the vac pump and ps pump. He had ordered the seal kit from Fixinram and then found the crack. I told him he REALLY needs to get a FP gauge to keep an eye on the pressure.

If he's around Grand Junction, I can reccommend a good place to take it.
