99 24v leaking Fuel lines
Hey i was Just wondering if this is problem that happens often.
A friend of mine Just bought this truck,(99 24v) Ran into him last night at the truck stop, and his injection pump was leaking, it appeared to be leaking from one of the lines right where it comes out of the pump?

Ive never had any problems with mine, or heard of any others with a problem. If it still has the stock lines with the banjo bolts, it could be that someone loosened them to bleed the air after a filter change or running out of fuel and didn't get them tight. Or the copper crush washers may need to be replaced on the banjo fittings. I have the Wildcat Max-Flow lines on mine and did away with most of the banjo fittings. They weren't leaking,,,, I just wanted the increased flow of the bigger SS lines and connectors.
The pic shows (left to right) the stock banjo bolt,,,, a modified banjo bolt,,,,, and the Max-Flow connector that replaces the banjo fittings.

Yeah, I really app. your help thats what i thought was the prob it looks like it is coming out of the banjo bolts. I Just wish he would upgrade them, but I am not shure if he has the funs. As far as I know no one has backed them off before, I also knew the Guy that owned the truck before, It was late at night and, he didn't have time for me to dig into it, He just dosen't understand that it could cause other probs, Younger kid, its his first one. I just don't want him to learn the hard way.

He needs to take a closer look at it. Genos, as well as other sources carry the larger banjos See Here and you might suggest that he get a fuel pressure gauge if he doesn't have one. The 99 is really easy to put a gauge in the test port on top of the filter housing. I put one on there under the hood before I got the in-cab gauge and at least I could check the pressure at an idle. Easy,, Cheap,,, and a very good way to keep from buying an injection pump.

I had one of my fuel lines go bad on my 98 24 valve. It was the line that goes from the lift pump to the injector pump. It just started leaking one day. Bought a new line and fixed it fairly easily. Just a little tight getting to it.....

I had this problem too on my 99.
Turned out the line going to inujector 5 had a small hole in it right near the pump and was leaking/spraying fuel everywhere.
They are expensive little things too!
Go to Cummins to get one, half the price of Dodge.
