97 12v wont stay running without full throttle
ok was drivin my truck home on interstate today and I felt a pop (which made me think 5th gear nut again) so I slowed down to 65 and tried to shift into 4th took alittle while with clutch pushed in and the truck just died. I will start but die immedatly unless you have the throttle floored, then it will start and slowly rev up. It blows no smoke, which before with these mods (3gsk, HTTB 62/14 turbo, s&b intake, 370 marine inj, #0 fuel plate full forward) it would smoke alot when reving. Truck build no boost smokes none and will hardly rev. To get it off the interstate I had to rev it to 2500 dump the clutch in 1st and hold it to the floor for it to slowly rev up again to 3k and shift, hit any hill with the revs below 2k and it would slowly die. I checked the turbo, and intake, everything appears fine, its like it just doesn't have enough fuel. I have no idea where to start, other than rip the fuel system apart. I think it might be in the inj pump but where? What exactly gives a set ammount of fuel at idle? Please Im hoping someone can help me get my truck back running I am pretty much dead in the water on the farm without it.

I will try fuel presssure check but I can't get the truck to start without flooring it so I need to get a helping hand. I think it might be in the throttle linkage or shut off solenoid but im not 100% positive. it like its being restricted.

In my opinion the cable shutdown is only worthwhile if the solenoid itself is bad which is very rare. Most times if the solenoid is bad it will be visibly burnt. Most solenoids are replaced needlessly.
Usually solenoid problems are due to a corroded blue wire at the battery or a bad relay on the firewall.
