47re trans
I have a 99 dodge 2500 cummins 4x4 auto. About a month ago it was real cold out side I got in started it warmed it up then drove down the road. It began by not shifting into 2nd gear I figured it was just to cold out after about a 1/4 mile I twitched the throttle and it shifted. I found later that day that it still wouldn't shft even when at operating temp. I have taken it to several dodge dealers and several trans shops, they all just want to sell me a new trans. I have tried changing the tps and that wasn't it. A buddy of mine owns a trans shop and he thinks a shift solinoid gone waco has anyone heard of this and what did you do to fix?

I know only of an OD solenoid. That doesnt mean theres not one. Call Bill K. at DTT . Look in the links section for his website. Hes a really nice guy and a tranny guru. He can recomend a shop in your area that he sell his parts to. I drove all the way from around Corpus Christi to Kerville to a tranny shop he reccomended. I was very satisfied and still am 160,000 miles later.

i have posted with the same problem before and was told it was the shift solinoid or the shift sensor and that they can be replaced for about $160 and a couple of hours. but you have to pull the pan.

47re problem
Well its not the tps its not the shift solinoid. It is no second gear. Apparently last winter it was very cold here I didn't allow enough warm up time and as we all should know being diesel owners with a 47re transmission 2nd gear is a band. Well it snapped therefore my trans was reving 1st gear up to 30 mph before it would shift not to 2nd but to 3rd. It is currently in the shop being rebuilt & built new valve body bigger pump, better torq convertor, kevlar bands, metallic clutches 5 not the standard 3 paper ones that the factory installs, larger cooler and shift kit. I hope this cures any futher problems. 99 dodge quad 4x4 cummins.

Hey you guys in the Va Beach area you might want to show up at one of our get togethers, here is a link to the next one. We are chapter #7 and it’s free to join. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=39258
I'm sure between all of us we will be able to help you guys out.
DTT doesn't have anyone here in our area I've already checked a while back, have to go out of state but they are good. Goerend Broyhers is good also, Tim is a good example of that. The other one that might have someone local is Suncoast. I don't know about ATS.
Here are some links to the top 4 tranny sites.
