2nd Gen 12 valve starving for fuel And stalling
I have a 98 12valve that’s starving for fuel stalled on me several time on my way home yesterday. It will stall then have a he’ll of a time restarting. It has a high output fuel pump on frame by the fuel tank I changed the filter on the pump and the filter in the canister Under the hood it will start, but when hit the highway it starts again it I’m lost here anything will help

The oem fuel pump is pretty robust not much to go wrong with them they are known to last a long time trouble free and when they do fail pretty inexpensive. So not sure why someone would change it to an electric type. However I guess that is moot at this time. I would check the fuel lines where they enter the tank to make sure there are no pinholes in them so it draws air (cant remember when they switched from metal to plastic lines but the metal ones definitely have had issues with that) as well as all fittings from tank to pump., I would check the fuel pickup in the tank to make sure it is not clogged with anything, iirc they have a double screen so just checking one doesn't mean the other isn't, I would also for sure(probably first) check the fuel pressure the pump is putting out. under load since that seems to be when you are having the problem. No/low pressure would indicate a restriction or air getting in or pump is going south, good pressure would lead one to think problem between the fuel pump and injectors ie injection pump issue. If by chance the oem pump is still in place along with the one on the frame rail it could be shot and causing a restriction as well Am thinking the 12 valves are looking for somewhere around 25psi pressure but not positive on that. Hopefully a good 12 valve guy will chime in.

Yup, need a fuel pressure gauge on there, 25 at idle and around 35-37 at WOT. If pressure is low, first thing to do is pinch off the rubber return and see if gauge spikes, if it does, overflow valve. If it doesn't, the devils harness electric pump has dumped, as has been said, purely idiotic to take the robust, reliable mechanical pump off, but idiots abound.
Anyway, check those and get back to us.

Mostly the same info. I posted on the other thread he started for the same problem over in the 12v section.
Haven't heard much back from the OP on the problem.
