Question 2005 2500 fan belts

I have a 2005 2500 and it has eaten 2 fan belts. have any of you had this problem or know what is causing it??? It looks like the A/C pulley is set back to far but I'm not sure. Less that 4000 miles. It appears so cut the ribs off from the front to the rear.

In my experience with these I replaced the belt and tensioner and none have come back. On one the belt was all but gone, and we didn't stock the tensioner, so I installed a new belt on it so I could drive it out back to our fenced in area. In just the time it ran it started to frey the outer edge. Visually I really couldn't see a problem, but the tensioner seemed to be a logical place to start. So far so good.

Thanks, J. Body,

Could you see anything wrong with the tensioner?? What you are saying sounds like the same thing that's happening to me.. Maybe the tensioner could be running th belt a little off??

It's quite common over time for the pivot point of the tensioner to wear causing the idler to tilt a little which causes the belt to track off center.
Unless you're rich buy a new one from Cummins, not the dealer.

No I couldn't see any thing wrong with the tensioner. Just using past experiences with other serpantine belt equipped cars. Bill, the two trucks I did had less than 6000 miles on them....and actually he can do better than buying one from Cummins....he's under warranty .

My belt is one notch off the pully on the ac pump. I put it on the right way several times and it just goes back one notch again and again. Its like the ac pump has to move back but I cant see any adjustment for that. Wierd huh. T
