2002 dodge diesel egt

I have a edge attitude on a 2002 dodge diesel ho. My egt stay about 800 going down the highway at 70 no change really when I go above. Idling it goes down to about 300. Now I romp on it it like goes to 1100 degrees or more. I just have a chip and a 4 inch straight pipe. so anyone have any ideas? Also my passenger floor board gets real warm if I pull a 16 ft camper trailer.

if it gets too hot, especially pulling turn the edge down but as long as you stay under 1250 you'll be fine

The floor gets hot cause the exhaust is right under it. You can run 1250 degrees all day no worries. You can go higher you just can't keep it there for more that 20 or 30 seconds.

there's alot on here that know more than me, where's the egt sensor mounted,

also remember the edge is not a true gauge but give's you and idea of temps, on my 01' I could be at 1300 and take my foot off and it would drop to 900 immeidately

Try towing with it on the Stock position. Don't think it will make any difference. Then push it up to the tow position (2). See what it does. The extra power may keep the EGT's down somewhat since the engine will be under less strain. Your EGT's are OK for towing. I average 980 to 1100 towing with the edge on the tow position.

My 2000 3500 would also make the floorboard hot for the wife when towing. I put a little more insulation in that area under the rug. Cut the wool stuff out and used some good stuff.

When you get some time fill out your signature.

so what should my boost be at? its the same as if on level 1 as on level 5. U can feel the power for each change but the temp is hot.

would exhaust wrap work ?
thanks for the info it helps.

did I fill it out right?

its mounted on the exhaust manifold.

My boost is normally around 15-17psi towing and will rise as needed when the load comes on between 27-30 psi. You can't judge yours by mine because of the engine your running. If I remember right, my 2000 3500 would run around
12-14 lbs of boost towing the same trailer on flat ground.

Your boost will flucuate depending on engine load. Going up a hill it will be more than running flat ground. Towing or not towing. You can get a Big Head Waste Gate from banks that will hold more boost longer which will help with the egts. They also make a quick turbo that will increase boost. Its been awhile, but there is a boost elbow out there which helps a little. Can't remember who makes it. My 2000 3500 would only give me 19 lbs of boost. I get 40 out of the 06.

I don't know how long an exhaust wrap would work with rain and other elements working on it.

Add your rear ratio to the signature.

my daughter had a complaint about excessive heat in some areas on her floor, so i wrapped the top half of her muffler with ceramic fiber insulation (CERAWOOL) no more hot floorto hold it on i used stainless screen and stainless tie wire
