04.5 poping (missing sound) under load

04.5 H.O. missing or poping under load black smoke for a second. Got worse 2nd day lost power for 3 seconds. Slowing down everything was fine. Fuel Filter? Just found out fuel filter is stock 50K miles.

edge W/Attitude level 3. APF intake. Straight Pipe

What do you have done to the truck? it would help if you could fill in your sig. if it is turned up much i would say you are draining the rail.

OK. I just changed the Fuel Filter and all seems well. I ran it hard under load towing 5TH wheel. It's still showing a p1249 code, any advice? How can the code be reset? Can a clogged fuel filter cause a code P1249?

took the truck to have a scan done and remove the codes. Is this somthing I need to address with a Cummins dealer? Can the codes be a result of clogged fuel filter? truck seams to run fine now that filter has been replaced.
