$500 for a fuel shutoff valve?
I was talking with my mechanic today and he was telling me that a new fuel shutoff valve for my 3500 is gonna cost around $500? It seems a little steep. Hes a good guy and I trust him, I just don't have the time right now to work on the truck my own. Should I call him back and tell him to let me buy the valve and then take it to him? If there is a cheaper one, could someone give me a link?
Thanks,

Also LOOK for a corroded wire feeding the relay at the battery terminal! I have fixed numerous of these with just a new terminal and a good battery cleaning. I have also replaxced many of the solenoids too. I like to diagnose what has failed. I hate wasting money on parts.

The problem is usually the blue wire at the driver's battery corroded or the relay. The shutdown solenoid rarely fails and when it does will look visibly burnt on the outside. It's probably the most often needlessly replaced item on a 12 valve, the dealer loves to replace it when throwing parts at a problem.
If you truly need a solenoid, $200 here http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm
He has relays also for much cheaper than the dealer.
