HE351 Turbo Swap info...
I just wanted to pass along a little info for those interested in this popular turbo swap. ATS Diesel has a Wastegate solenoid plug cap that really cleans up the install of these turbo's & eliminates the worry of boost getting by the solenoid & having to plug the bypass holes. Install this plug, drill & tap the compressor housing for an adjustable boost elbow (available on e-bay) & the turbo is ready for upgrading 2003 - 2004 trucks. It's a direct swap & really wakes up these early common rail Dodge's.
Part #'s for the ATS plug:
2272-202-003 Wastegate solenoid cap
9263K143 O-ring (1)
9263K305 O-ring (2)
I'm sorry about the quality of the pic's & i hope this helps.

I just went to the ATS web site and didn't see it listed. Did you just call them up and give them the part numbers listed above? Also what are they charging for one of those caps?
I have my 351 sitting in the garage waiting for a warm day. Thanks to Tim Barber @ TRE performance!!

Seems like there aren't as many around as there used to be. I have been looking for a decent one for a while now and if I find one it is usually too late.
It is a perfect mod for me as I have no plans to go huge with power.

The plug & o-rings were around $40.00. It's a very nicely machined, well thought product & well worth the money in my mind. Again this is not needed to use the turbo in a swap but does clean up the install. I've removed the solenoid, plugged the bypass holes, reinstalled the solenoid & that works also.

Excuse my ignorance here. Is that plug only being used to eliminate the electronic wastegate?
So this turbo bolts directly up to a 03, you won't need a different down pipe or anything else would you?

You can retain your stock downpipe but you will get lower EGT's using the 04.5 up 4" exhaust elbow & downpipe.

If I were to switch to 04.5 and up downpipe I believe I would have to get a new exhaust. I think the 03 downpipes are 3.5"?
