I want to build a high horse power 12 valve, for the desert, I may even remove the body and go truggie style. I have always heard that the '98 was the one to get, but I found a good deal on a '95. Are there any differences in the drivetrain on a 95 vs. 98 4x4 drive train?

 

95-98 12v should have the same drivetrain. I'm not sure what exactly our looking for but I just saw a 97 ccab with less than 100k for 13k on auto trader Thursday. If I could sell my 05 I'd buy it right now. You want a 05 right....

 

a 98 12v came with a 215hp pump and a 95 came with a 175hp (manual tranny) or 160hp (auto tranny) pump. The manual tranny will be a NV4500 5 speed in both, and the automatic will be a 47RH or 47RE (not sure when they changed). Either one will be good to bomb.

 

I have a 98 12 valve engine and computer, 2wd trans, solid front axle, dana80 rear 3.55 and frame from a reg cab long box. PM me if your interested.
