Here is how I feel about Chevys with smiley faces.
Dodge trucks are . Chevy trucks make me . When my Dodge isn't working I am , but I know its nothing huge and I will soon be again. When a Duramax has problems I want to it. Then go for a Dodge to tow it away.
Just had to do that...
As for my answer:
NO.

I've been considering it.
I have actually been considering it. My 91.5 is rotting into oblivion and is too small. I have a family and want something I can take people in besides working with. I wouldn't wish a powerjoke on my worst enemy and their gassers get horrible mileage and dodge can't figure out cab sizing for the life of them. The club cab is a joke, the early quad cab wasn't much better, the newer quad cab is still too small and the megacab is too big because I actually use my truck and thus need an 8' bed. By process of elimination that leaves only one thing, a D-max GMC. The D-max gets good mileage, makes good power and seems quite reliable. Nothing beats their interior comfort too. I am not brand loyal. As a business owner I will buy what suits my needs and does so at a reasonable price. I agree that the cummins may last longer but the rest of the truck won't and I don't have the time to be fixing everything else that goes wrong with an older truck so running the truck to 300K and up just isn't a concern.

This is a hard question... I would never sell my 12 valve to buy one, but if it was a good enough deal, its possible i would buy it... I dont know if I would keep it or not though. I seriously doubt it. Id probably sell it and buy a CR cummins To be honest, as long as the interior is decent, I dont really care what kind of creature comforts it has.. Ride doesent bother me either, and I think the new dodges ride and drive really good. I dont like the low hanging frame rails of the d-max at all. Plus they are really hard to get to stuff under the hood. I like the chevy truck ok, but I just like an Inline 6 diesel. V8's just arent my thing as far as diesels go. They never have and never will last as long or make as much power.

Id take one for sure
stablemate for mine. I love the way the D max shifts, and drives, its a nice commuter truck, id take mine extended cab shortbox please with 4wd.. heck for that it would almost be my daily driver, id probably alternate the two..
BUT id use the cummins for the real work, and haulin.. minor stuff for the D max...

After owning a Cummins I'd gladly drive a Chevy!!!! ................straight to the Dodge dealer and trade it for another Cummins!!
The V-8 configuration of any diesel is cracked at best in my opinion!!

i like the duramax but the dodge dealer was the first place i stopped. i really would like to have an allison but im stuck with the 48re. they are both very nice trucks and can do the job asked of them. the cummins might do it a little longer, faster, and for less money...but id drive either

Yeah, I would. In fact I drove this one last Thursday.
My buddy went up to Oregon to buy it, I went with him to pick it up. He let me drive it when we tested it. I love my truck, but this thing is sweet. Way too nice for a Farm truck though. It was set up perfect for him, even had rubber floorboard instead of carpet. Lot's easier to wash cows**t out of. LOL.

My dad has an '01 Chevy D-max/Allison. Aside from the injectors going at 60K miles (many of the early D-maxes had that problem) it has been 100% reliable and a very strong performer even in stock configuration. It is a banshee while towing, but other than the power, neither of us care for the rest of the truck, even though it's been pretty dependable.

Would I drive a Chev diesel?
To me a V8 diesel is suitable for nothing but powering an automobile, just like the V8 gasoline engines. A pickup with a V8 gasoline engine is a car with a box suited for light duty service and hauling passengers around in my opinion. A diesel powered truck is for doing heavy hauling and needs an inline diesel engine for supplying steep grade pulling torque. I do not like a GM truck with a V8 diesel, but I like GM's Chevrolet Trail Blazer with the 4.2 liter I-6 gasoline engine and would like to see it in the 1500 pickups instead of the 4.3 liter V6. I have become an I-6 internal combustion engine lover whether it is a gas or diesel engine.
NO, I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT DRIVE A CHEV or GMC PICKUP WITH A V8 DIESEL ENGINE EVEN IF THERE WERE NO OTHER DIESEL PICKUPS AVAILABLE, NOR IF IT WAS GIVEN TO ME FOR FREE. The same goes for a Dodge if powered by a V8 diesel engine.
If given to me I would just trade it in for a pickup with a V8 gasoline engine like the Ford pickups I drove for years, because I did not think the 6.2, 6.5 and 7.3 diesels were worth owning. If I ever buy a car it will be a VW I-4 diesel or a BMW I-6 diesel if they become available on the North American Continent. If I purchase an automobile in the near future it will have an I-6 gasoline engine like the BMW 353i.

quite ironically, the trailblazer engine is turning out to be troublesome and junk. Lots of problems with seals and the variable camshaft phasing stuff. Not the greatest GM engine by a long shot. As far as a gas V8, in my humble oppinion GM has the small block thing nailed down pretty well. The Gen III V8's are proving to be good and durable engines. Friend has an '02 avalanche with over 330k on his, and there are also a couple work trucks at home with over 250k on their 5.3's and 6.0 gassers...To say any inline engine is better than any V8 as a blanket statement is kind of being ignorant. Thats just my oppinion tho, no offence intended.
