Delvac 1
I have run Delvac 1 for almost 30K. Had analysis done at 12,500....all ok. At 22,500 analysis was better than before. Silicon dropped 3 points (AFE filter?). Getting ready for the 30K test. I love Delvac 1!

It's good to hear that the new "Delvac 1" is available at Walmart. However, I probably still won't run it just because it's too expensive. I wouldn't be one who would run bypass systems and send off for regular oil analysis and all of that stuff so I could have extended drains....so I'd just be paying four times as much for oil changes with no real benefit.
Besides, I'm perfectly happy with my Delvac 1300.

Hey there, I will be doing my first oil change on my new truck when I get it back from the paint shop. Up hear in Canada the summers are usually very very humid with temperatures reaching 90 degrees on a hot day and in the winter the temperature can drop to -10 sometimes. My truck will be a daily driver with possible stop and go driving but with no load. I was wondering what kind of oil I should look into purchasing since with our temperatures I will have to change grades of oil for summer and winter.
PS. It is the truck in my signature

i use delvac 1300, 15-40 in the warmer months and delvac 1, 5-40 syn in cold months, oil pressure comes up quicker and easier starts in the cold with the delvac 1,but any good quality diesel oil would work...that's just my .02 cents...

Found out my Wal-Mart supplies Delvac 1. Its $32 CAD for 4L. I think I might run it next oil change and from then on. I am going all out for oils on the rest of the truck, might as well go all out on the most important oil...

I kind of do overkill when It comes to maintenance on anything that goes for oil too. So how far should I go with this Delvac 1. I wont be towing anything, or ever have a load...

How Long?
I have gone 10,000 miles several times with a Fleeyguarg Filter and a good synthetic, like Delvac I, And always had good analysis results. This is w/ no towing but heavy hauling about 30% of the time. Oil has not been near all used up. It's a good round #, but you should do at least 1 oil analysis at 10,000 to be sure your not over doing it.
After that, if your driving habits don't change, you'll know your OK to go 10,000 each time.
