i got 5 gallons of peanut oil! i am waiting till it warms u and i will uor it all in my tank and see how she runs. i dunno if ambient temps have anything to do with it, but i'll let ya'll know how it turns out. i hope i don't end up with 35 gallons of bad fuel! but i'm up for it unless someone strongly urges me not to. i'm here in corpus too. i'm gunna have a willie good time and drink a lot of willey good beer at the willey good concert...

I would encourage those of you adding vegetable oil (VO) to their fuel to be very careful. VO behaves much different than diesel or biodiesel in an injection system. 5 gallons of VO to 30 galllons of diesel is 5/35=14% VO. This would probably be fine in an older, indirect injection diesel, but could pose some substantial long term problems in direct injected engines. There is lots of published information out there on VO/diesel mixes and impacts on engine performance and I would encourage you to seek this out. At this level of VO there is a substantially increased risk of fouled injectors, sticking rings, and excess carbon build up in direct injected engines.

I'm with TDIWyse - the possible consequences far outweigh the cost savings of running some peanut oil through it. Ive seen pictures of HPCR injectors that ran vegetable oil, and they look like a nasty crisco mess. I think folks should stop trying to reinvent the wheel, and just put DIESEL FUEL in their tanks

i never figured out if the 94 cummins with a p pump was a idi or a di? i know my old ford is an idi with the semi-cumbustion chamber built into the head my injectors are fried anyways in my ford from running 15 psi boost with the fuel turned up TO THE MAX lol, the ford injectors are built a little different and i think too much fuel will cause them to mess up. if i do pour 5 gallons of peanut oil in my old ford idi tank, is there any doubt that it will RUN? i don't really care if it runs a little worse than normal, i'm not trying to save fuel money, i'm just experimenting. worst comes to worst, i will drain the diesel and pour it in my bulldoser and refill with regular diesel and never do that again. i know my dozers will burn it because every time i do an oil change, i pour 8 gallons of jet black exxon in the tank, fill it up with diesel and commence to rootplow.

Banks twinram - my bad, I didn't notice you had a 94. I just have seen the results of SVO in HPCR systems. I think in an older IDI or DI system, and especially at the lower blends you're talking about, you will be fine - provided the temperature is at the right level. I'd do some research and find out what the viscosity of your particular oil will be at various temperature levels, and run it when the viscosity is in a similar range to diesel fuel.

ok, i was gunna do a test first on my ford and i do know that the fuel gets hottern' a firecracker on the ford idi. just as it goes through the system, fuel pump and i.p. so i think that once it heats up, it will be fine. i am going to wait till the summer to do it though, just for good measure, it's only like 75 degrees out right now "south texas" and will be closer to 85-90 when i run my experiments. thanks for the info, i wouldn't even think about running it in the new computer controlled trucks. and is the 94 dodge cummins indirect or direct inject?? does anyone know? i am leaning toward direct inject, but not certain because of the i.p.
