gotta love the torque! the sound, the smoke, the power. nothing like feeling the charger light on a 600 hp truck!

Its simple. This truck is the most versatile vehicle ever made.... Drive it to church, drive it to school, fun to cruise in, comfortable to ride in, get good mileage, motor will last forever, I can drag race it, I can truck pull it, I haul tractors/machinery with it, goes good in mud/off road, sounds good, looks good, and its got a stinking medium duty I-6 motor in it. I do all those things with mine, and its got 195k miles on it, and will continue to do all those things without problem for an easy 200k more. I do use my truck plenty, and a gasser would do it, but while getting half the mileage, putting down not even half the torque, and not lasting but half as long. I love my truck.

I run diesel because, a few reasons. I have pleasant memories from my child hood of the smell of diesel, my dad used to show cutting horses for customers and when I'd go with him we would get up early to go feed, and when the air is cool and it was pleasant outside I about all you could smell was diesel from the other people, I only went with him once or twice when he was driving a diesel (customers truck). As for my association with gas smell goes, well, I don't like mowing. When I turned 15 and started thinking what I would be driving in the few years (I had just started going to High School Rodeos) and I thought I would pick up an early 80's single cab chevy dually, had to have 454 and 4 on the floor. We had started looking for a new truck to replace my dad's 84 454 in 02 and we found a 91 Dodge Cummins and that was a very impressive truck from every angle but room.(single cab) after that truck I drive diesel because I could not stand anything with less power or mileage. I also drive diesel because it is cheap to jump the power 100 horses.

I don't tell them anything. I don't need a reason to own my truck. It's what I wanted so I got it and I've never looked back. If I tell them anything at all I just tell them that I've got double the power they do and still knock down high teens for mileage. Shuts em up pretty quick.

I´m not owning any vehicle right now, but by the time I have enough money saved I´m pretty sure it will be a Dodge manual trans with the Cummins inside. I´ve driven several Gassers and Diesels, mainly N/A engines. N/A diesel engines **** IMO, but turbocharged they are awesome. I´ve owned and/or driven several cars with a 60 hp engine, my N/A diesel was the worst of them all. Slow, noisy and bad mileage for the 60hp it made (30-35 mpg). Driving a small gas engine was quiter, faster and it got even better mileage. But compared to a turbodiesel they both ****.

I remember getting a small Peugeot with a turbodiesel because the bus at work quit. After driving it I thought it was a gasser because of the power it made. I put half a gallon of gas into it, then checked if it really was a gasser, well it was not. Called the dealer and they just said to fill it up with diesel and drive. That got me hooked on this diesel stuff...........as well as the torque to get things moving and the better fuel mileage.

Gassers are nice either but just not competitive when it comes to pulling and mileage.

Edit: I have to admit my N/A diesel was a Ford and it rusted like ****...talk about first and last Ford ever owned

Edit2: just saw that certain words are not allowed here

well i remember back in grade school (11) years ago when my father bought his 95 cummins...i loved it, and i always got made fun of because i was the kid in school ranting and raving about a dodge diesel dually etc etc...

well when i got out of high school i went right out and bought a $35k ford lightning with 4 miles on it. i had my dream truck (of the moment). 13 months later, and 31k miles later getting 8-10mpg and not being able to tow, go offroad, or anything except going fast i was hating the truck. then i got picked on by a 2500 cummins with 4 people in it, 4x4 etc. he wanted to run me on the highway, i figured ok...i have a 13sec truck, ill waste this heavy thing. NOPE, he put about 5-6 truck lengths on me from 50-120. 2 months later i finally traded for the 02 in my signature...and havent stopped bombing since. i love this truck!

Well, I get 5 mpg better than my ole 360. Pulls the TT with ease. Pulls my tractor like it ain't back there. Plus my dad drove mostly Dodges and when he passed away in 96, he had a 93 cummins. I think he would be proud. Nuff said.

Anyone who asks this question won't have the first clue as to what it's about.

I always wanted a dodge diesel. After I tore up our Dak, we we looking at conversion vans, and she spotted our truck now. Her reasoning: A diesel migth stand up to my punishment and that she knew I always wanted one. Also as a bonus: not many people have them, it annoys people at redlights and parking lots.
