General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Die-hard mopar fan, but also a die-hard Cummins fan so it works perfectly.

I'm fairly disappointed in the dodge fit and finish as well, after driving a really tight 65 D100 and a 77 Dodge M880 military rig first. Even that well-worn M880 had better sheet metal, door hinges, seat, etc etc. And that was after the army AND a rural fire department had used it and discarded it!

I would love to have a older dodge crew cab or extended cab with this drivetrain in it...

watched the chevies and ford come apart at the strip in 60-61. back then the dodges were a little slower but i never had to walk home. my old 78 wore out 4 chevies for one of my friends. been sitting in the woods for 8 years put in gas and a battery and i bet one could drive it off now. it does look awful though. ps. everyone of my friends with chevies have had to have trans built before 90k miles

I originally bought the truck for the Cummins engine as I had been a GM man for 20 years. After owning this truck I will say that it has been a better vehicle than any of the GM trucks and Suburbans I drove for those 20 + years. It hasn't had near the issues of alternators, window and door lock failures, driveline and other misc failures that I put up with on the GM trucks. And I've never liked the way the Ford trucks drove.

From having Superdutys and Rams on the Farm and running them side by side, The Cummins always did better on fuel. And the Ram steering has held up better then the superdutys.
