I wanted a chevy but they wouldn't come off of $40k for even a stripped down version and after owning one ford that stranded us 6 times in 6 months cause the dealer's kept putting the wrong size belt on it I wouldn't own another one so all that was left was Dodge. Went and test drove one and as soon as we got back they said they'd take $6500 off the price. Walked out the door with the keys 2 days later.

I didn't pick a Dodge. I picked a Cummins and it happened to come in a Dodge wrapper.

I'm going to help you with your race for 10,000. How long have you had your truck?

I had a first gen dodge before this, and there was nothing it couldnt pull. I was looking into a F**d before i bought my dodge, but on they day I was going to go to the dealer and sign the papers and get one ordered, I went on a service call..."bring a chain" I pull in to find a F**d f250 diesel (almost exactly like i was going to order) with a blown trans. Talk about "dodging" a bullet. My uncle had a couple of 2nd gens and hasnt had a single problem with any of them, and I took one look at the chevys and decided I didnt want to drive around in a spaceship with all the buttons and gadgets they have. Once I found my truck up for sale, I knew it was the one!

There is a Mega cab NOW. But I for one can't or won't be able to change/upgrade every year something new comes out. That defies what is touted as a million mile Cummins.

Did the Mega cab fix my sole complaint, you bet!

If I ever go to the hospital, they'll have to get my transfusion from the Dodge Parts Department.
My dad was a Dodge man, & I'm a Dodge man.
I had a GM....once. (Ex-Wife picked it.)
I had a Ford....once. (Ex-Wife picked it.)

I had more problems with those two vehicles (and that female) than I've had with all my Dodges put together.

The My Daddy was a Dodge man and so am I, isn't that the response from most Ford drivers and Democrates? (I am not trying to get a political discussion going)

I can't remember exactly why I bought my Dodge, but I think it might have started with a "C."

If your asking me then I've owned it since brand new in 2001. Bought it the week of April 26th. It was that Friday. I've put every single mile on her myself. And yet, even after 5 years and 106,000 miles, I still get a smile every time I turn the key.

It works for me.
But then, my father was also a 36 year Ma Bell employee until he passed in '89.
And I'm coming up on year 26 with the same company.

The stuff my Dad taught me has allowed me to make it to 51 years old.

If it doesn't work for you.......Oh well....I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.

In a way it doesn't work for me personally, I am doing what my father has done under his own company for over 30years because he needed the help and I could not get another job for the summer that pays as well, but I don't plan on building saddles for the rest of my life. I don't plan much ahead of fall but I am keeping saddle making and only saddle making on the avoid list. He did not fall in his fathers foot steps (mechanic, engineer without a degree), he did do alot of what his dad did before he turned 19, and sometimes the knowledge from then comes in handy now, but he did not go into full time pipelining. I guess I will follow his footsteps in a round about way. This has gone a long way from why do you own a Dodge.

I have always owned Gas powered Ford Trucks. The Cummins was why I jumped to Dodge when I decided to go diesel. The extra $3500 for the Ford helped make buying Dodge easier. I did like the trailer brake anti lock that Ford offered.

So in one word I would say "Cummins"
