I want to get a benchmark of "lower 48" prices for a paint job vs what it costs here. If I want to get it done right here on my truck, including rhino lining the bed and from the beltline there, changing the color from white to viper red, I am looking at about 4500 bucks here- I could get it done cheaper, but not anything that would last more than 10 years and look good.

 

When DC paid to have my truck painted due to peeling paint the bids were $4500 to $6000 by very reputable body shops. This is probably on the high side because with the peeling paint problem the paint needs to be removed down to bare metal.
If you are changing colors though expect to pay more if you want the interior door jams, underhood, etc color to match the new color.

 

Sounds about right, here in the land of environazis. Kalifornia of course.

 

A re-paint of the OEM color runs around $3000, a color change would be around that... This is at a TOP notch body shop, using Glasurit paints.

 

Thanks guys- It looks like the AK shop is right on target on price- about 3K for the repaint, about 1200 for the rhino lining, plus 300 odd bucks for some other repairs I want done.

Viper Red by next summer! Black bumpers, powercoated black rims.
