Well I think most will agree, me included.......that either one sounds better than a 3rd gen.... And I own one.

 

yes... unless you were driving around beating the snot out of it to listen to the cool noises the turbo made when you let off real quick... barking a brand new turbo with essentially no miles on it. a turbo doesn't know if there's a muffler behind it. I've logged about 200k miles in straight piped CTD's. including installing two new (upgrade) turbos

 

Yeah, concidence... The turbo does not get a memo from the muffler to not grenade. It has no idea that the muffler is back there. There are so many straight piped diesels without turbo problems.

I kinda like the 24v rattle better. Most of the time. Depends on my mood I guess.

 

i second that as well. my 24v w/ stacks and no muffler or resonator sounds pretty heavenly, especally under bridges or driving beside tall buildings or concrete walls. it scares the crap out of people when you drive by them and kindof hold it down.

 

What about back pressure??
No I drove my truck pretty nice all the time.
