I had a 97 12v with straight pipe, it was cool at first but the drone at highway speeds was enough to drive anyone up the wall!!

I noticed you had an 07 5.9, and this question popped in my head. Do the 5.9's have the EPA stuff and all that jazz, too. Or just the 6.7's?

I think just the 6.7's have the emisions stuff on them, I love the way the 24valves idle but think the 12valves have more of a tone to them at like 2kplus rpms. But i love the the way the 3rd gens sound straight piped they are loud!!!!!!!!!!!

The 12 Valves really seem to have a bark around 2700 Rpm. I still like the low sound of the 12V. Biased... Maybe..

So for those of you running a 24v with a straight pipe and resonator, what resonator are you running? The stock one that's on there or something different? I recently straight piped my truck and it sounds really good like it is, but I'd like to put a resonator on just to quiet it down a BIT.

I'm betting they're talking about the stock resonator...

I think the 24v engines sound better... maybe it's the fact that they rattle so hard you think they might fall apart

the exhaust note is pretty similar, but the 12v's will come on harder at lower RPM which sounds awesome...

once you start hopping them up and need to wind them up a little to get them to light, it's a wash, maybe giving it to the 24v?

but there's this harmonic that these engines have around 3400 or so at full tilt, and usually you only hear it at full boogie w/ a 12v

plus, 12v's sound a little more reliable

Oxymoron . Well from being around the track I vote 12v stacked.

Im a pretty big 12 valve fan. Nothing like the sound of a cummins turning 4k Of course, the 24 valves sound good too.
