I haven't been stranded by my Dodge yet, but it has caused me to leave late for a ski trip when the LP went out. I lost half a day of skiing while working on it.

So, computer problems, busted cooling lines, clogged fuel filter, whatever... What has left you on the side of the road without warning?

 

My starter stranded me, or at least I think it was my starter. When turning the key nothing. So I had to jump it at the starter below. I wasn’t able to afford a starter that month so I bought two good wires with clips at the end and a push button at other end to bypass what ever the problem was. I ran it from the starter to my dash area. Funny thing though... the starter problem managed to fix it self, to this day I have no idea what the problem was.. But I keep the wire set up in my glove box just in case. Regards

 

Injection Pump decided to take the big dirt nap about 3 miles from home three days after last Christmas.
After having it towed home, it provided the perfect opportunity
to order and install a HotRod Injection Pump........

My starter relay has left me stranded; but with a quick push down a hill I was able to pop the clutch and buzz on over to the parts store.

TomD, your description sounds like the starter relay could have been your problem, as mine went in and out before it completely died. Its located on the driver side fender, in front of the grid heater relays. Small rectangular box with a wiring harness going to it.

 

Lift pump quit on me. It was -25* that day I thought for sure it was gelled up, but I was wrong.

#2 piston rod went just under 13k at the time. Was almost to Madison WI for a day of boating. Had it towed to the dealership in Janesville WI. (it was suppose to cost me an extra $50 because of warranty & close dealerships in area). The Janesville dealership really took care of me, even gave me a 1500 QC to drive around. They even paid for the extra $ for the extra tow distance. They did ask me about my gauges, I explained that I wanted them when towing and they never said a word. In two weeks was back running. No dings, scratches , or even leaks, very happy. 19k and rolling.

 

Governor pressure solenoid. Didn't really leave me totally stranded, but in a serious LIMP.
Worst part was I hadn't yet found this site so I got raped for a whole new Valve Body care of the local dealership.

I ran out of fuel once, right by a gas station too, walked over there and filled up a gallon jug of fuel, put it in the tank and it started right up with a few pumps on the primer, I thought I was in for some trouble getting it running again.

I had a blowout because of some crappy tires that left me stuck in oklahoma on the way to delaware

water pump went out, didn't really strand me, but it was on the same trip to delaware, my wife was driving next to me when we pulled into a hotel for the night and she said theres a wierd noise coming from the engine, it was the water pump, fixed it the next day.

battery terminals melted themselves. the outside of the terminal still looked good, but all the lead on the inside melted out and fell down in the tray, took me a while to figure that one out.

 

Starter died.

 

blew the springs out of the clutch hub, but still limped it all the way home

 

Lift pump in the driveway. 20 miles from parts store.

Starter burned up ...literally. middle of nowwhere. walked 5 miles home. Then walked back the next day lugging the starter and tools.

Batteries died in the parking lot. Walked home that night and got a ride to work and the parts store the next day.

Week before last, Lost Inj pump about 6 blocks from my son's house but 100 miles from home. Had to get home to go to work and came back the following weekend and fixed it.

I keep outdoor clothes inthe truck depending on the season. It seems like I usually have to walk a ways when I have problems. haha

 

Hydraulic clutch blew on my 91 but I started it back up in gear and power shifted it all the way home . Also lost transmission on it once blew rear seal and lost all the oil and it locked up going about 70 , $3500 to fix and towed home by a Chevy , not a good day . My 4.5 has gone through a few u-joints and one carrier bearing but has never left me stranded .

Does being stuck in a snowdrift,with all four wheels off the ground count? That's what happens when you hit it to hard plowing a driveway.It took a lot of shoveling,and two other trucks to get it out. AS far as mechanical,so far knock on wood never been stranded.
