I'd follow where ever Cummins went. If they split, someone would grab it up.

But....if Dodge weren't using the Cummins and didn't replace it with something better (read CAT), then I'd start driving a Ford. Of course, by the time I buy my next truck diesel might be outlawed.

I would jump on the Benz engine. It is a very impressive powerplant.
MBE-900 320HP and 850 foot pounds torque with a real engine brake built in.

To me Dodge has been a dis-appointment, they really let me down with there newest generation of pick-up, I expected more from them. The new 3500 DRW 4-door truck is just plain ugly, it it is really ugly in the std cab version. The paint and materials are not a good as the other top manufacturers, and frankly I think they stay in business because of Cummins. I would actually like to see Ford get the Cummins, weather it be them solely or with both Dodge and Ford sharing the same engine. The competition would be good for Dodge, and maybe force them to build a better looking and functioning truck.
Not to disagree with you.....but in my opinion the Dodge 3500 DRW 4x4 crew cab is the best looking truck on the road. To each their own.

I would like to see Ford offer the Cummins though. Actually, I'd like to see both Ford and Dodge offer one of THESE, turned all the way up of course, in their trucks.

Hoss, while reading the posts, I was thinking to myself. " If cummins leaves, I do hope Cat takes its place". That would be a very tough decision to make, " Do I want the Cummins or Cat?"

I wouldn't worry about them splitting after '07.

But things CAN always change. Look at Ford canceling the Navistar V6 diesel.

I agree, really a contract is nothing permanent, and can be broke by either side. Dodge might go with MB, since it is in the "Family", and I am sure they would rather pay themselves for a diesel and not Cummins. But, Cummins could almost go anywhere they wanted, and from the sound of some articles, they could very easily end up in a ford. I think that would be great, you could still have a Cummins, but choose the truck. The VW Tuareg (?) gets a v-10 diesel next year, that should be nice. I like Dodge, the only thing that bothers me is I think they rely to much on customer loyalty to the Cummins for there truck sales. They have some quality and innovation issues that should be addressed along with a old out-dated auto transmission.

A year or so ago the CEO of DC, during a speech, made the comment that the Dodge truck would soon be getting a MB diesel. After all they made the best diesels in the world. Why would they buy one from Cummins. Within a month or too, I'm guessing after a huge outcry from dealers he came back and said that DC had enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Cummins and it would continue into the future. I think that is probably about the time they signed another muliyear contract with Cummins. I can't remember were I read it. I think maybe in Four -wheeler magazine under the industry news.

D'oh. This was supposed to be a poll. My computer crapped out right as I posted, and then didn't even show that this post existed. ??? It was supposed to be Dodge w/ PSD/Dmax or Chevy/Ford w/ Cummins.

Well if it happens in MD, they'll have to wait a year before they can get divorced anyways ......

I personally am going to try not to worry about it till it happens, and then it will be a sad, sad day for me. If they do, i know ill be buying used dodge/cummins' for a while. BUT, if i HAD to buy another truck besides a dodge/cummins, it would probably be a duramax right now even though i hate the way the front end looks(they look good if theyre set up right though). I personally think the dodge trucks look as good or better as any manufacturers trucks right now. I drove one, and they are a nice truck, and I think they are nicer inside, and out than the ford I rode in(6.0L). I dont know why everyone hates the DODGE part of the deal so bad, because, mine, and my dads have both been pretty good trucks so far. I dont like the really old dodge gassers, but since 94, I think dodge has had as good of a truck as any of the big 3. My uncle has a 98 dodge 1500 4x4 with a 360 in it with an auto., and it has been a great truck. The only thing he does to it besides drive it, is change the oil, and he has had the tranny fluid changed about 3 times i think, and he pulls a boat all the time with it, and has had practically no trouble out of it. One way or the other, I like my 94 dodge/cummins, and will always have one as long as i dont run into any other troubles.
