What fuel box for a 99 PSD
A guy asked me to search for a good fuel box (chip) for him,,,
he has a 99 Powerstroke.
I've been looking at piers for edge,,, whats the best? the evolution tuner? or better a box?
he wants in cab adjustability, to turn it off!
or is there any other brand that i should look at?
any recomendations? thanks guys!

thanks for this site!
seems to be good for a PSD
i wonder what options to take? he wants it for towing power and when he is not towing turn it off (yeah right )
*Stock
*No-Start
*Valet
*High Idle
*20, 40, & 60HP Tow
*80HP Econo
*100HP Performance
*120HP Race
*140HP Extreme
Id say as for the options one stock, one tow and another high HP.... ?!
each level costs aditional $45 to the $275(chip, n switch)

The guys that have DP chips on the Ford sites seem to really like the 40, 60,and especially the 80 setting. I wouldn't go more then the 80 setting on an otherwise stock truck. The 100 setting would be okay with a intake and exhaust but might get a bit warm. Gauges are a must with any of these settings, especially when towing. The 120 and 140 settings really need turbo and fuel system upgrades to work well.

how about the DP smoking??? not saying that i dont like it, but i know some others that didnt get theyrs to smoke... (i think with superships )
a friend of mine had a chip in his 99, twas not a DP though, but it smoked like crazy! he payed 300 bucks, and twas not adjustable at all!
(kinda like a modded 12valve,,, maybe)

i've installed 2 of the dp's so far both on 2000 auto's 1 2wd 1 4wd,the settings we picked were 40,60 ,80 econo this chip works very well on all
settings youll get some smoke on the 80 but clears up pretty quick also alot firmer shift on all setting the 4wd has 140K on the clock with the fact tranny
never been rebuilt,Yes i'm suprised too. if you go any bigger than the 120 setting you will need "the big oil kit". even on the 80 setting in the 2wd truck
with 70k on the clock you can tell some converter slush if your really on it.
i would recomend putting at least a billet conv and a "transgo tugger hd shiftkit in it before you add much power .BTW on the 80 econo setting you should get about 2mpg better if you can keep your foot out of it,also remember put a good airbox on it and open the exhaust,i've been using the airaid and a strait pipe

thanks for the information. my first thought was to get extreme 140HP... but I guess thats not an option, as to take the chip as the ONLY mod!

Big oil kit, also known as an aftermarket High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP). 7.3 PSDs use highly pressurized engine oil as hydraulic fluid to fire the injectors. With higher chip settings the stock HPOP can't supply enough oil pressure to properly actuate the injectors. Aftermarket pumps, usually a dual pump setup, are needed to supply proper oil pressure for the injectors. This is what most Ford guys refer to as BIG OIL, and they are not cheap.

glad my injection pump, only needs oil to lubricate!! NOT to fire injectors!
