Just for my curiosity (it came up in a conversation), what does the 12 valve cummins weigh? And, in comparison, what does a 7.3 powerstroke weigh? I am not looking for exact weights- just roundabout will do. Thanks.

 

The dry weight of the Cummins 6BTA5.9 is 905 lbs (no flywheel, clutch or any accessories).

 

Fully dressed with starter, alternator, etc, ready to drop in around 1200 lbs.

It's a lot more than, say, a Chevy 350 V8.

Not sure about the 7.3L PSD, I would think that would weigh nearly as much.

 

approx. 920 lbs dry for the 7.3 and approx. 975 lbs for the 12 valve

 

...then you really want to know what a 6.0 weighs.

 

theres a sticker in my glovebox thats says 1100 im guessing thats with everything hanging

 

Somebody told me that the PS weighed considerably more than the 6BT, but I can't imagine that there would be a great difference. Thanks for the replies.

 

hodge, possible ya hear wrong, maybe they said "better boat anchor" and you thought " heavier " ?

 

Powerjoke weighs about 900-920 pounds for direct and indirect injection and 860 pounds for non-turbo. Cummins complete long block weighs 1,150lbs.
