what diesel motor?

ok, here in the next few years im wanting to build a truck with military axles under it and the whole 9 yards. Kinda like the one stacy's building, but different. its a few years down the road but i was wondering what motor to put in it. A gasser is out of the question so i was wondering what DIESEL motor to put in it. a DT 466? 3208 Cat? or would a 12 v or a 24 v cummins be better? The BIG cummins's are really heavy. i dont know if i want one of them or not. so my question is, which cummins can you make hotter? 12 valve or a 24 valve? im talking twins, injectors, chips, the whole deal. me and my dad built the 57 chevy in my gallery and we finished it a coupla years ago. im having withdraws because im not in the shop working on something. So... what do yall think?

The 12 valve would be simpler, no computer involved. I think a 5.9 Cummins is your best bet for plenty of power without too much weight. A DT466 weighs about 1200 pounds, the 5.9 only weighs 1,000 pounds.

How much money do you want to spend? The sky's the limit really. With a good set of twins 600 HP is not an unreasonable goal if you can afford it.

i'd probably want to see a ddc 6-71 under the hood, or maybe an 8v92??? that engine sounds so nice working... a dt466 would be something different.. dirt reliable [mechanical ones] easy to rebuild. strong engine that would be too... [i'd still want a ddc 2 cycle under the hood for the pure noise/music those engines can make]

6v92 would fit better. And there is a lot of thoes old 2 cycles around that aint in use. have a blower and a turbo on em... that sounds cool. But would defiently leave a mess in the gerage because they drip a lot of oil. And id haveta use a huge tranny to bolt up to something that big. where the 466, i could get it with a 5 speed and put a over and under behind it. before the transfer case. But idk im just 'brainstorming for the future' keep the ideas commin

when you post a new topic at the bottom it will say post a poll you click that then it will ask you what options you want i think you can do up to 10 different ones what you would put for options would be the different engines that you are thinking of putting in the truck the 12v 24v 3208 DT466 6v92 and probably an other for people who have another suggestion
