I know hindsight is always 2020 but when the engine started going south again this close to the 100k mark you should have loaded it with more weight and drove it harder for a little longer to finish it off before you took it in.
Then that rep would not have been able to go with the band aid and glue BS on you again.

Edit to truck condition.... talked to dealership today... "well,,,uuummmm... we're gonna put it together with a new piston in #3 with a new head gasket (and that magnafluxed aluminum head????) and if the cooling system still overpressurizes, then the GM rep wants us to take the OTHER head off". hhmmm.... Guess that will be another week??
Catdiesel, ever had to ride passenger and work out of somebody elses truck??? It sux... We have a back-up truck, but Its being used due to another one of the D-maxes being in the shop also.... go figure..

Well, its alive!!!.. I haven't went and picked it up yet, but they called late today and said it was ready.... After all the attempts to repair it, and two and a half weeks later; they put an engine in it!!. I found out Tuesday that our fleet manager wasn't really impressed with what was going on and made a couple of phone calls! I'm sure the conversation had the words " all fleet vehicles" and "Ford" in it! And the replacement engine IS a GM reman engine. No repaired warranty failure engine, a complete reman.
Rattler, I can't say I didn't think about it. But i can't bring myself to intentionally just tear something up. I don't really drive this truck hard, most of the miles on this truck are running down highways at 70-75 mph!
I'm just glad to have all my tools back!.
Catdiesel, good news is that I have ended up with 3 new wiring schematics, 3512C, 3516a+3, 3616A+3... due to mine being in my broken truck!.. haha.. Also ended up with a new injector height guage for a C-18. Spares are ALWAYS good!

victory at last
Glad to hear they finally fixed it correctly for you! I am sure the little phone conversation is what got it done it is a shame you have to do that or as i had suggested help it along but that is the way things work when dealing with them.
I agree with you on not intensionally tearing things up but there are times you don't really have a better option. Hope you get many miles and smiles out of the reman engine.

My dad was a mechanic at teh local Dodge dealership in the early 70s and he tels the story of a guy who had a fleet truck that kept overheating. Chrysler and the buisness owner never could come to an agreement over what was wrong and who would fix it, so the guy just drove it with no water. After the engine sized they new what to fix and replaced the engine under warranty.

Good news....too bad the Holts didnt just get you a new rig all together though. Oh well changing truck sucks and you always LOOSE stuff.
I do have a problem though right now as well with my C5500 year 06' I can COUNT on the oil level light comming on before 5000miles....I idle the truck very little when possible too. Guess I need to start changing the oil at 4000miles so it doesnt get too low on oil. Mileage 33,200.

Is the dmax engine in your service truck an LB7 or LRX?
#54
Well, got it back today.... Drove it about 50 miles, blowing oil out of the breather. Checked the engine oil level, not overfull, got a call in to the dealer, of course, they haven't returned my call. So much for the reman engine.

OK, edit to post. Some baffle missing behind crankcase breather, fixed that. Has another oil leak around an injector thats leaking down on the exhaust manifold. Gonna run it till next week, maybe I can get it into the shop then. Tech at the dealership said the LB7 is notorious for leaking oil around the injectors..... other than that, it seems to be running pretty good. I haven't seen that good of hot low idle oil pressure since it was new!!!.. I got 30PSI!!!!.. old engine was MAYBE 10PSI.

Glad to see it's working for you. I like the comment made earlier about no one ever making the comment "saw a ford/chevy/dodge running great down the road today, quite a load behind it too" but then again, what fun is it to post that? The one time my 91 let me down on the road it was TOTALLY my fault. i replace a freeze plug with one of the rubber expandable ones and didn't lock nut it. hope the reman engine works well for many miles.
