He said it is in awesome condition and was wanting $6500 for it. I don't know if that is in your range financially or distance wise. Let me know and I can message him and see if he still has it if it would work out somehow for you. I know the southern trucks will be far better than any northern trucks. I used to live in Western New York, so I know all about salt and vehicles......

The first gens are very easy to work on and are bulletproof. And clean ones can be had for under $3,000; if you want a regular cab, 2wd, beat-up truck that might have mechanical problems, then you can probably get one for around $2,000, if not less. (Mine was only $2,650 in perfect mechanical condition and no rust.)
If you do find a first gen, there is a very active community on this sub-forum, so we can get any problems that you may have sorted out in a hurry.
Good luck to you and the missus.

I might be interested in it if you throw the woman in on the deal... When she makes Shepherd's Pie, does she use a mashed potato covering or a biscuit covering?
No thanks, I like my truck. I've got quite a bit of money invested in it, too.
Don't see anything new today...

Read the sig. The 95 just had it's first over haul, last month. Haven't changed the info yet, but it's got 2,850 miles since and it's been running just fine. The 97 goes in next month.
I've had my share of 24v's (99-01-03) and I didn't like a single one of them.

Jim,
I sent him a message and told him. Have not seen him around in a few days. He should be around before long, his sreen name is Micaiahfied he lives here in middle Tn. It's been about 2 weeks since he told me about the truck, so he may still have it. You could find him in the members list and email him if ya like.

This is a hike from you, but its doable. Ive been up to maine a few times myself.

The transmission will probably let go if its the stock one though. =(
The 95 has the 160hp pump which is a slow dog. A fuel plate will bring it up to where it should be and thats only 200$ or so.
I know zero about the first gens, but Id only recommend a 2nd gen like the above if you can put a DTT or Goerend's trans in it.
Being a mechanical injection pump with a powerful lift pump it will run veggie oil nicely, but up here the cold will be a problem, especially if you use it as a daily driver for short trips. Thats what biodiesel is good for. (with a little diesel-kleen or kero for gel point)
Oh yeah, Ive had good luck so far with spraying things down with some metal-ready from POR. It etches into the metal and leaves a film of zinc that doesnt rust. We get a lot of salt here too. Im currently slicing off rusty bits and welding on new sheet metal in the fenders and doors. Best to chase the stuff down while its small and under control
