try and see what a skid loader does when you try and back on up ramps as my dad did. Ramps seem to go flat quick. Now the are reinforced with angle iron and would hold almost anything.

I had a set of cheap sheet metal ramps. My dad wouldn't listen to me & drove his 78 Dodge W250 4x4 big block truck up on em . . . . smashed em flat. I have a good heavy duty set now . . . I'm sure even my Cummins truck won't smash.

My father made a set of ramps out of wood to raise his semi in the air for greasing. The veritcal pieces of wood are 2 1/2" and the boards from side to side are 1 1/2-2". They do hold some weight.

back when we had a stick welder my dad built some for working on trucks...all 2"x2"x1/4" angle, with a heavily reinforced explanded metal decking on the slope and flat area...they are a PAIN IN THE REAR to move. they each weigh about 90-100lbs and i cheat with a handtruck to move them around.

they have been tested with the weight of a freightliner tandem dump truck with a big cam cummins up front. put the front tires up on them and they didnt even flex or bend.

Best ramps i ever used were at work, 8x8 beams , slice the end off on a really shallow angle, and throw a strip of rubber on the bottom (so the wheel rolls up on the rubber first , the rubber will keep the ramp from sliding across concrete.

I have the same ramps 6100 lbs is stamped on them so I figure the whole truck wieghs 7100 lbs, should be able to run the front end up on them. Now I have a set of ramps that are flat. Maybe the stamp of 6100 lbs meant inch lbs.

We made a set of ramps/blocks out of 6x6 logs, nailed three together and put 2x6s on the side and top to hold everything togther. When we want to work on something we just get the skid steer and pick up the front or rear of the truck and slid the blocks unde rthe tires and we are good to go.

I had the same problem wit jack stands. I did my track bar infront of my house on the street. I needed a 5 pound sledge hammer to get the stands out of the street. They sunk almost an inch till i was done. The neighbors thought it was quite funny.
