I can't understand why some people use oil rather than just a made for diesel fuel additive. Most all add lubricity and come out cheaper than adding 2 stroke plus have additional attributes that oil doesn't.

Someone please explain to me why they think oil is better than additive.

 

After noticing how dry ULSD is I figure an extra shot of lubricant won't hurt. I pick TCW3 since it's ashless or super low ash and burns cleanly. And it's about half the cost of Power Service.

I use TCW3 also. Does seem to be quieter... not as much injector noise. This is hard to quantify though.... Wish someone would do a test to see how much noise/rattle there is before then after adding oil to the mix.... Anyone have any way of measuring the sound?

 

I have a 24 gallon fuel tank how much of the TCW3 iol should I put in?

I use Citgo TWC3 two stroke oil in my truck. I put about a pint with a fill up from empty. These oils are used in fuel injected boats and snowmobiles etc. and are very clean burning. The oil injection systems will run from about 100:1 to 15:1 ratio so you can pretty much put in whatever you would like to and not hurt anything. I have torn down many a snowmobile engine (hence my screen name sled4fun) and have found this oil to be the cleanest burning to date. The exhaust ports are perfectly clean.

I started using it because I got a heck of a deal on the 2-stroke, $.50 a quart and had read some post by others that were running it with success. I noticed the truck runs much smoother and quieter, then running just an additive, Stanadyne is what I use. It is night and day difference on how the truck runs.

 

I have a lot of oil and no snowmobile at this time.

 

I'm with Bill on this one to. Some of these mixtures are like an alkimist's experiment.

What would be the diff. between mmo and 2 cycle oil?

 

Would anybody know what additive I could run to make the engine and exhaust noisier? As it is, I can sometimes hear the drive-throughs say, "CAN YOU ... inaudible ... TRUCK OFF!"

It's a bit dissappointing to be able to hear that before I shut it down.

Yeh I add 2 stroke oil to my stanadyne when the bottle is half empty then I pour that in the tank and fill it. This is really gonna freak you guys out.......I even add my used crankcase oil to my fuel tank. I put in a gallon before I fill it. Runs great. But I think I'm gonna start saving it for my waste oil heater.....winters comin.
