No, landscapers use them too.
I wouldn't consider Kubota to be an Ag tractor.

When Kubota first came to the US back in the '70s the local dealer dropped off two of them at the farm to try out free for a couple weeks. They were bigger than most Kubotas, like about 75 hp. Very first day with a scoop of dirt in the front loader I hit a rut that spun the steering wheel full sweep in a millisecond, dislocated my thumb and broke the tie rod.
That was the last time I got on a Kubota.
With a JD I could have stopped the steering wheel from going out of control with one finger.

PS , what about those Johnny deeres that are made in the BELARUS factory.

Belarus , now there is a top knotch tractor company who still has their origional name.

What about the smaller CAT tractors , the wheeled ones , those are made by AGCO , and they do not have cat engines in them , so i guess CAT isn't a real company either? (no offence to CAT or ACGO guys)
caterpillar doesn't make the challenger series tractor anymore they sold it to AGCO. The only thing they make is the engine and transmission in the MT865 and a couple other models. Other than that Agco owns it. As far as the smaller wheeled challengers CAT has no say in that at all as that is only Agco No CAT. As far as Caterpillar goes though if you can buile a machine that WORKS in the dirt then you can surely build one that PLAYS in the field.

guess who makes deere excavators......hitachi...but you know what...thats ok because they are the best on the market by far!!! have the CAT models beat hands down (they are also made in japan by the way)...the closest competion being komatsu. whats my point???....my point is who cares who makes it or who merges with who, as long as its a good product. i'm not going to say kubota isnt a good piece of equipment, but come on.....its a KUBOTA!!!!!yuck

ever ran a Kubota M105 or M120??? I'd definatly say they are Ag tractors, but as a whole you're right they do tend to market to a different crowd, but what company's aren't these days, compare the weight of a tractor from 10-15 years ago to the weight these days, you can't compare the two, goes back to the old saying, "they just don't make 'em like they used to", & as far as green goes I have to agree I Love my Deutz Allis 6265 4x4, the purr of that air cooled 4cyl. Deutz is priceless, (so long as she keeps on purring), colors, colors, colors,so many to choose from!!!!!!!!

JD 70 have you run or seen Cat track hoes or John Deere Hitachi track hoes in action? Cat has then beat in swing time and in the bigger models they don't compare to a CAT we have two CAT 386 Track Hoes on our site both with 7 yard bucket they load a 40 ton articulted truck in 3 swings about 2 mins. Not to argue but you have to see them in action to compare but as for rubber tired back hoes nothing beats a deere. More stabalized and alot more balanced.

Infidel , the kubota's have come a LONG ways since they were first brought here. They are somewhat behind with some of their technology , but they are trying. I did a PDI on a brand new M125X this morning, and no i am not a kubota man , but they are actually decent tractors. I will always be a Case IH man, i have no use for the JD brainwashing, why have a LESS economical tractor?

Actually John Deere Bought Out Timberjack in 2000 (or somewhere around there), and they converted the Timberjacks with Cummins Engines to John Deere Engines. John Deere changed there Feller Bunchers/ Harvesters to the Timberjack style, while Timberjack changed there Skidders to the John Deere Style. Today though Timberjack is no longer a company, it is now John Deere Forestry.

the new 40 series Kubotas are starting to float around the dealers here now too, took a new 8540 4x4 to a local farmshow for a friend who has a dealership & they are a really nice machine as well, not real fond of their new park brake, but guess one design is not going to please us all?? the motor sounds mean in them now, not so much like a lawnmower , seem like they'll be a pretty good unit all together, Dusty

Amen right there ^^^

I know they all break , but i am happy to say our 2 red ones have served us very well. On the same note , one of my CTD buddies runs green ones , and besides breaking a few steering parts on one last winter , they don't have many problems with them that i know of.

kman9090..yes i have ran both machines...both were new models of equal size...the cats are fast...but as far as swing time...its not a selling factor because the cats cant swing as much of a load...and this is very important if you are swinging on a steep grade trying to move material...its also nice to have a higher torque swing vs a higher speed swing when dressing and knocking down loads. we had a cat 320 (had) and it just didnt "have it"...it was quick, but couldnt lift boulders that the 200 hitachis man handled. hitachi makes hoes that will load a 40 ton arti with less than on dipper in less than 30 sec...but who cares...hitatchis are stouter, smoother and stronger...cat has a good reputation developed from the past, but they are slipping... just my $.02...but test two equal sized machines and you will see what i'm talking about

I agree completely. It would be great if there was a 4250 or 55 MFWD with a 15 speed ps around our place. My dad has been looking around for one, since our JD 4040 loader tractor is getting pretty rough.

Speaking of big 4X4 tractors, you should do a search on Big Bud. They are huge. The 1150 Versatile is also a beast, and it is named after the big 600 or so hp 1150 Cummins engine in it. Big Bud, Steiger, and Versatile tractors were kind of pieced together from parts of several different manufacurers. Cummins engines were the most common in any of the three. One problem is that quite a few of these tractors had a dry clutch, which could be a real issue in a farming tractor.
