Turbo overspeed?

Just kind of wondering out loud here...with my 12cm hogged out pretty good, the Turbo-Master does a decent job of bleeding off boost. Still, if I crank the 'gate controller down, I can peg my 40psi gauge with little effort. My question is this: Just how fast does the compressor wheel on my baby H1C have to be spinning to make that kind of boost? I understand that a lot of that is from heat, but that's an awful small pinwheel, so it's gotta be whippin My plans are to go with HTT's stage III or IV when money permits, at which point I'm guessing I'll have to either stay out of the throttle or get a different housing. I guess I just figured eventually boost would stop climbing with such a small compressor.

150,000 RPM+ is my guess. All I know for sure is that it's faaaaaaaaaast.

I know 44 psi on a 12cm HX35 is around 200,000 rpm, which, ofcourse is way overspeeding....... The WH1C with a 12cm housing will perform very similar (54 or 56mm comp. wheel, no?) to a 12cm HX35. I wouldn't be surprised if it is in the area of 180,000 rpm......if you have the 54mm comp. wheel then it may be even closer to 200,000 rpm than that. Either way, it is far exceeding the safe limit of 140,000 rpm!

Something cool and interesting to try,
Start it up with the intake hose of(the hose that is between the air filter and the turbo)
And blow smoke into it, kind of neat to watch.
or have somebody shut it down and look at how fast it still spins after the motor is off!!

Yeah, I can hear it spin down for almost 10 seconds after the engine stops---guess my bushings are still good! I guess I'm wondering how much faster the smaller wheels have to turn to make that kind of boost. I've gotta think, all else being the same, a 62mm comp wheel wouldn't have to spin nearly as fast to produce Xpsi vs a stock itty bitty wheel.

Or you could remove the intake, rev the truck to the moon while slipping the clutch to build boost, shut if off and shove a bananna in the turbo to make a nice smoothie.

OOhh, you just gave me a great idea for a new invention. A high speed turbo blender.
