THis past weekend from Ft Hood (183S) thru Austin and San Antonio (35s) to Freer, TX (16s thru Poteet, Jordantan, etc) I got 20.68 mpg at 65-68mpg turning 1700-1800rpms with 2004 2500 4x4 6 spd, 3.73 rear, with 315's...Yes, speedo had been recalculated and the mpg numbers were hand calculated. On the way back from Freer (16N) to San Antonio and then Lampassas (281N) running 70-75mph at 1900-2000rpms, it got 19.5mpg. Of course, I refueled in Freer before the northerly run, and I didn't add any Fuel Additive (Power Service Fuel and Centane Boost). Ran faster on way back due to deer needed to get to processor...

When I first got my truck, I had my stock tires on and everything, I avg. over a few tanks of 27 mpg, but that is not going a hair over 85km down the road and taking off really slow and such. I would get up to 700 km and just be at half. Now the only thing I changed was I got my 315s on now, and a tonneau cover, and im at around 650 km and at an eighth tank . I still have yet to do all my fluid changes, I am stilllll waiting for Cummins to get my air filter, and I am waiting for some Delvac 1 oil, which I will probably end up having to order off of autobarn.

I see that you guys haven't met my brother-in-law yet...from the stories he tells about pulling his twenty-foot bumper pull with a 1/2 ton Chevy gas jobber, he has to carry a empty 5 gallon gas can with him wherever he goes because his outfit makes gas!!!!!!!!!!!

I get 18.5 around town and 23 on the highway all the time. Rarely go over 70 though, and have to drive pretty easy. My dog hates it when I jump on it....tend to throw him around. He really gets PO'ed! He keeps me from lead footing it for sure.

<------------- see doggie pic. White Fang is a Siberian Seppla (overgrown Huskey) 115 pounds. He's 13 years old this month.

He then proceeded to talk about how his truck got 26-28 mpg and how he could burn the tires off of it "from here to the highway".

He also claimed that he owned 4 of them....3 of which he bought on the same day.

28 miles to the gallon. Yeah...okay buddy. Hehehe...
just ask him next time if it is to the us gallon or to the imperial gallon. the imperial gallon is larger, so you get more miles to the gallon.....
example: my samurai gets 26mpg (us) and 31mpg (imperial) so he may not exactly be making it up, just not telling the whole story...

I got the impression that this guy wouldn't know what an imperial gallon was.

Best I did was 27 mpg @ 65 mph.
Cheyenne, Wyoming to St. Paul, Minn and still had a quarter tank to go. Had a strong tail wind the whole time and it's mostly flat sloping down hill. Always get at least 20-24 empty.

Tell him he should be averaging at least 30 mpg!

good one, I'd have said that....A dude I know that bought a PSD that doesn't know anything about anything told me that he was getting 36 on the highway, I just listened like I was paying attention...the whole time I'm thinking...."ya, 36 divided by 2, if your going downhill"...

Yup, and your Jetta scales at about 1/2 of a CTD Ram.

But unfortunately, has a slightly reduced GVW rating.

our 03 Gets 25-26 no joke. at 65mph it gets that mileage.

i have even witnessed it myself. its an 03 QC LWB HO/Auto with an Edge EZ box set on 200tq. We can go 750 miles from here to texas and fill up with 30 gallons of diesel. That is a 25mpg average. We go up two 6% grades on the trip.

my truck however is averaging about 16 or 17 at 65mph. im getting the 18-037-04 this weekend or next week

if the injectors are clogged up, increased fuel economy is possible, but the power is gone and theres no fun in that (plus its not good on the injection pump).... anyone else heard about that sort of thing? i know someone that averages 65 highway in a jetta for that same reason as well......

He-he, yep. I think it is rated to tow 1000 pounds with a 100 pound tounge weight. You can't haul much hay with one of them.

For more funny lumber pictures look here.

I don't need a pickup for my job (hauling around three small children), so I went for fuel economy. Love the TDI!

I did not see an increase in mpg with just the exhaust (except I really like the sound).

I did see a 1-2 mpg increase when I ditched the stock air box and put in the full AFE kit. Be prepared for much more turbo whistle if you decide to go that route though. I like the sound, but it was almost too much.

I have only had the EZ for a couple of weeks, so no comment on that yet.
