Which tranny???

I dont want to make this a manual vs auto thing because I dont mind either. I just want some info or opinions on which tranny might be best for my needs. I am putting a 12 Vavle CTD in a '99 F350 CC. I need a tranny and tryin to decide between a built up 4R100, NV4500, or NV5600 with dual disk clutch. I do intend to throw some mods at the 12 valve so I want to do the tranny right the first time. The truck is my daily driver. I dont anticipate doing any pulls or drags but you never know. The biggest load I pull is a '73 bronco on a trailer occasionally. I really want something that is fun to drive and be able to leave the ricers at the light behind me. Unless I am missing something the cost will be the same on each tranny. I have a V10 4R100 which does not have an adapter for the cummins. So either way I have to buy a new trans plus the core charge. A built auto will probably cost more but when you compare the DD clutch to a TC the clutch is more expensive so in the end both trannys seem to cost the same. I guess bottom line is what tranny will be more fun to drive on the street with about 500HP??? What would you choose and why??

Thanks

I tow and thats what my truck is used for, not a daily driver. I just sold a sweet 94 auto low miles with mild mods to it to get a 97 with the standard. For what I use the truck for a standard in my opinion is the only way to go. The autos to hold the power you are wanting will cost more than the clutch, do a search here useing the search option on auto trannys and check the vendors list here also and do some talking with them, they are friendly and knowledgable. Goodluck, Rick

With what you tow and your intentions I would say go with a rock solid built auto and it would take a heck of a ricer to beat you stoplight to stoplight. But if you wanted a manual go with the 5 speed better for traffic driving IMHO. The 6 spd is unbeatable for towing.
