Toyota Ad

Never seen it, actually I don't really see a lot of ads for the cummins, ford was just one of the first to come to mind. It seems they have a pretty heavy advertising campaign. But yeah, all the manufacturers have ads that are great works of fiction, especially when it comes to the heavy duty pickup market.

Actually both Toyota ads from the Super Bowl stated a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen "actual demonstration". There is also a website showing how they made them. Non-believers, sorry but they were real. Not trying to start a war either...just telling what I looked up.

Toyota is getting ready to bust up all domestic truck manufacturers. The domestic makers have gotten by with making most of their money on trucks and SUV's for years.
Toyota is offering a 381 hp 401 lb ft, 5.7ltr V8 in a shortbed 2WD. Anybody ever drive a Lightning? It will be the fastest vehicle Toyota is selling in the U.S.,, until the new Supra. A sport suspension will be offered. The automatic is a 6 speed. Stock, expect 1/4 times in the 13's and those big brakes they advertise are for real. Oh yeah, full list price? $28K, nicely optioned.
This fall a factory supercharger will be offered and a cam upgrade making almost 500hp and 500lb ft. AND, they will install these upgrades on any Tundra, complete with factory warranty.
BTW, these trucks are built in the United States, unlike most "domestics". I'm not trading in my CTD, but Toyota is going to give the "Big 3" a real headache.

Ad says 10000 lbs, doesn't say it is hauling 10k, could be truck and payload total 10k. Probably started up hill in 4-low. Any truck could pull that off in 4-low. Don't get me wrong, this new toyota v-8 is supposed to be a bad *** in power, but the manufacturers really unfairly advertise these vehicles.

Unless there were some EXCELLENT trailer brakes being used, that commercial was doctored. IMHO it was an actual test, they just arent saying that there was a bunch of brake assist from the trailer. The trailer never tried to push the truck...oops thats a pickup, sideways. It didn't offer to jackknife or throw the trialer up over the pickup. I see now they have a new commercial out where they stop about a foot short of driving off of a cliff. Great advertising, but I'm not planning on going Evel Kienevil into the grand canyon anytime soon.

I just got back from the Chicago Auto Show, and they had one Tundra there with a huge flatbed trailer with a Bobcat on it, and they had a little presentation about how well the Tundra could pull it. Regrettably I couldn't get pics of that one due to the presentation happening, but the Bobcat was placed on the trailer facing forward, so all of the counterweight was on the rear axle of the trailer. The Tundra was STILL squatting pretty badly with just basically the trailer tongue weight and the weight of the scoop and the front of the Bobcat.
The OTHER display that I saw was one with a regular cab Tundra with a SNOWPLOW on it. The darn snowplow was sitting on the ground, and the Tundra was STILL squatting in the front just due to the hydraulics and the plow frame being suspended. It was just amazing that they would actually do something like that. There was a disclaimer on the sticker display for the truck that the display included aftermarket equipment that MAY ADVERSELY AFFECT THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY. I couldn't believe it. I did get pics of that one and I'll post 'em as soon as I can.

Here's one of the "behind the scenes" videos on Toyotas website.
I find it really funny that they let you see the blue ford superduty behind the people standing in one scene. Anyone else catch it?

No offence, but you must not have alot of faith in your truck then...because I believe my truck could do it with my trailer brakes setup properly.

But I think it is a nicer 1/2 ton. Its not a HD Diesel, but its the nicest 1/2 ton (in my opinion).

After watching the commercial, I decided to build my new Tundra. Turns out the MSRP is only $42,483!!!
When it comes in, I will be wanting to hook up bumpers and drag you guys all over the parking lot. Man, only $42K for a 1/2 ton, that's cool.
