Time To vent!

Yesterday I took my truck to the dealer for balljoints. Get it up on the hoist and buddy says lets get the parts. Comes back no parts!!! Talk to the service manager oh ya that truck you need to replace the control arms not just the balljoints. Mine are cut sorry no replacement! So I say OK fine bring my truck around and I will be off. Moron drive's my truck around and I inspect it yep nice HUGE gash out of my right front rim. Now Im really > so I go back in and drag the owner of the dealer out from his office to look he says you sure we did that OH YA IM SURE! He says ok get a new set and send me the bill so I did I went to get a new set last night and sent him the bill today. He just dropped the cheque off for the replacement about an hour ago. Thanks for listening I had to vent that as Im still steamed up that someone could even do that! I even suggested I drive it since the guy had never driven a daulie but he was like no Im ok YA RIGHT. Just a heads up guys.

Thats aggravating I know, but at least the Dealer made it right. I have come to the conclusion that the best thing to do is buy a lift and do all your own work on your vehicles.

That is the only way you can be assured the work is done right!.

Re:Time To vent!

I had something like this occur to me.
I had gone to a tire shop where I purchased my new wheels.
When they were putting the wheels on the truck (for the first time) the guy with the impact gun slipped several times on different wheels leaving impact socket scratches on the surface of the new wheels.
This made me quite > and... long story short, the replaced the scratched wheels and installed them next time by hand.

To the shops credit, they gave me the least scratched wheel as a spare and even put a new 33" BFG Mud Terrain tire on it for 1/2 price.
Leaving me a full set of new wheels and tires including spare.

Rich.
That really sucks dude. At least they payed for it. Some places around here would deny it and say that they didn't do it. I hate crooked businesses that won't stand up to their mistakes. At least you got it replaced. Here's a question, did you ever get the part replaced that needed to be replaced?

RE the backhoe incident. A buddy of mine has an aluminum deck. Its about 10 years old now and the rub rails look like new. Tells every fork lift/loader operater that loads or unloads him "Just pretend your d*** is between your machine and my rails and everything will be fine"

Re:Time To vent!

Jamie I have hever seen the ball joints on a dodge but was wondering if they are rivoted on or cast into lower control arms. If rivoted can they not be ground off and a newer year be installed . I say never give up there always has to be another way, check out some front end shops Custom rod shops anything good luck.

Re:Time To vent!

That really sucks man. What's even worse is that you didn't get the parts replaced that you went in to get replaced. I refuse to let anyone work on my truck. I just don't trust people. They are fools. They don't care about it cause it's not theirs. My mom wonders why I'd rather spend my money on fixing broken stock parts with aftermarket ones instead of using the warranty. Because I don't trust them to do it and because if the factory part already failed once, it will probably fail again. Sorry again man. Hope you figure out what to do with the ball joints.

Re:Time To vent!

Thats the way I look at it Blue if I have the time and the knowledge to fix it then why not do it myself. There is no need to let a moron do my job when I am more then qualified. I also have enough friends in the auto industry to make some great mods aswell. The balljoints are getting bad and I can replace em they are just pressed on the control arms so this weekend im on my back again! :'(
