Things youŽd like to see on the next gen. RAM

Hello guys (and ladies of course)

What kind of things would you like to have on the next generation Ram truck?
Except the Cummins engine of course....6.7 I6 I hope.

Though I do not own a Ram this would interest me a lot, so please contribute your thoughts about what could be done better and features youŽd like to see.

IŽll start, though a bit more general things IŽd like to see on any truck:

-Shifter (manual) like MB Sprinter on the center console
-full time AWD as an option (with lockable diffs), like the new Mercedes GL offers, but stronger
-front and rear airsuspension option for a bit smoother ride and leveling with load
-6-speed automatic with steering wheel shifters, an auto that does not shift on its own but when YOU want it to shift
-more legroom for the quadcab for those people who donŽt want a megacab. Perhaps shorten the engine room a tiny bit, i.e. cab forward (but then I donŽt know if thereŽs any room to shorten).
-a slight weight reduction would be nice either to enhance payload
-a smaller diesel engine, like the 4.5 I4 offered by Cummins with about 250 HP and 500 lb-ft torque, especially for 1500/2500 models
-an interior that can compete with FordŽs King Ranch edition. DonŽt get me wrong, I like the interior, but it could be nicer.
-better CW-coefficient for decreased wind resistance without loosing the truck-like appearance
-bigger brakes as breaking is the most important part while driving, especially with a load

ThatŽs it so far, please feel free to contribute comments but donŽt start a flame war

How about an automatic biodiesel generator system. All you do is add waste or SVO, sodium hydroxide and methanol to 3 tanks and drive to the next Chinese restautrant.

How about taking the technology that they have and make these trucks and cars get around 30mpg minnimum.
Leather seats like the ones in the second gens!
Lower prices at the dealerships.
Better financing options.
Twin Turbo's from factory!
Tow mode / performance Mode / Comfort Mode suspension and transmission!
Factory installed brake controllers.
Factory installed EGT Gauges, Boost Gauges, Trans and coolant exact temp gauges.
Close ratio 6 speed with a low set of 4 foward gears for heavy slow pulling.
Better Interiors!
Wider selection of wheels from Factory.
POWER WAGON with a 300hp 500lb ft tq engine. Diesel!!!! ,

Man I could go on and on!!!!

Personally I like the idea of having air ventilated (perhaps even air suspensioned) seats. But then I like the twin turbo either, as well as a switch button for tow/performance/comfort. Those items would make a sick truck

Edit: 30mpg would be nice either, but I guess thatŽs hard to achieve

Yea, but I guess then my whole Idea of lower prices would be killed .

In 20 years there will be a mecca of Diesel/VegOIL Powered vehicles making insane amounts of power getting 30+ MPG and will be required to run for 200,000 miles before first oil change!! - - - - - only reason being, we are all going to have to travel via floating vessel bridge to South ASIA to get a job

Ball joints that last,
lift pump that is bullet proof
tailgate that swings both ways
lower bed height, I am always hauling something in the bed, the lower I have to lift it the happier I would be,
upfitter switches
a tool box built into side of bed like the older fords used to have
,as stated above: more wheel choices, better interior, brake controller
2 overdrive ratios

For sure there could be alot of items added, seeing the last posts on this topic IŽd vote for the integrated tool box and two overdrive gears. Perhaps the new (07 perhaps) Aisin transmission offers these. Bullet proof lift pump and ball joints would make it even better. My previous car was a european Ford Courier (1.8 NA Diesel with a whopping 60HP) and ball joints were the first parts that wore out

But what is an upfitter switch, never heard of these. Is it a switch on the dashboard which which could be used for any added item that needs a switch?

Time to go to bed now, already 4:20 AM here, see you tomorrow...
