watch out all. i had a locking cap and thought i was fine. somebody crawled under the truck and sliced the hose going into the tank and sucked about half a tank out. couldnt think of any way to avoid again so I wrapped it with chicken wire and zip ties... watch out!

They'll just drill a hole in your tank next time.

That's why I haven't bought the locking gas cap. I hope if they ever steal my gas they do it thru the regular opening, and not make a new one.

Best bet is an alarm system with a perimeter sensor that doesnt allow them to get under the truck or near it in the first place.

I found out through the stupidity of a local fuel jockey filling me up with regular that it's easier to NOT use the gas cap opening when getting fuel OUT of a '93 D250. Removing the rubber filler neck is the easiest way into the tank. A locking cap only keeps out the honest people!

1st. Gens will have a Anti Rollover Ball at the bottom of the filler pipe so you cannot stick a hose into the tank from under the cap.

You could replace the section of hose with Marine Exhaust type hose, it is wire reinforced.

Some low life already stole my truck cover two months ago from my driveway (can fit the MG in my garage). I'm just waiting for this idiot to come back and suck all my #2 and pump into his gasser.

The sad part of this is that a thief is going to get what he or she wants no matter what we do or how we protect it. We had a 1 ton ford at the local garage and the next day when we went to pick it up it started and ran for a minute or so then stalled. I looked at the gas guage and it was below empty. It was a gasser and I could smell gas as I got in the truck. I got out to see about the smell and noticed a wet spot on the ground under the tank. The %$#@#@@###$$%^ took a punch and drove it through the bottom of the tank and caught what they could and let the rest fall to the ground.
Nothing will stop everyone, sometimes its better to not make things too hard for the crooks!!

It will make you mad trying to outsmart theives. After having a motorcycle stolen, I now spend around 5 minutes layering on various types of theft prevention before I go inside after I get home (apartments suck). All that must also come back off for me to take it anywhere. The countless hours and dollars we spend to try to keep other people from walking off with our money or posessions...i swear. Im getting mad all over again thinking about it...

Just remember one thing-we have to work and we have to sleep. These people will hit you when your sleeping or at work. they can sleep when they want and steel when they want. Sometimes I think if we catch a thief and handle it ourselves they may think twice before touching someone else's hard earned stuff.
just a thought
