No they are saying you can't modify the exhaust to be any louder than the stock exhaust. We have the same law here.. Put a good mufler before your stacks and they should be OK. (as long as the truck is as quiet as it was before the stacks)..

I'm pretty sure the State Police are the ones in charge of the vehicle inspection laws, so the best place to ask would be one of their stations or headquarters.

Being that they are 90% men with high testosterone levels, pulling into their parking lot with the stacks in question would help your cause.

It was designed that way. The issue is altering the exhaust system so it differs from the original design.

That said my son spoke in person with the manager of the Cherry Hill, New Jersey MV Inspection Center and was told by him that stacks, if safely installed, will be passed at his center. NJ inspects vehicles at large centers spread about the state where several lines of vehicles enter a large building at one end and leave at the other end.

Both of the troopers at the barracks I went to in Suffolk said as long as I had a muffler, they didn't see anything wrong with the system. I put a muffler on the next day.

Did you make them show you on paper why they would not inspect it?

I believe the same holds true in Kansas... then again, we don't have inspections.
