well when left to the original programing that international made for the 6.0 it is a good motor and runs strong but ford in their infinite wisdom had to tweak it to put out the power #s it dose so they would not look like they where coming up short in the hp/torque race just as a reference almost all international box trucks run the 444E with very little problems most moving trucks that are navastar are the 44E
just ford putting quality as job 1 as always

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the International T444E was the old Ford 7.3 PSD, and the International VT365 is the current Ford 6.0 PSD. I haven't heard really anything about the current VT365 being good or bad in the International straight trucks...

The only thing I've seen VT365's in is rollback wreckers. Saw one a few months ago white smoking and sounding like it was running on 4 or 5 holes. I don't think the 6.0's problems are all Ford's fault.

That's what I'm beginning to wonder. Maybe International's VT365 design isn't all that hot to begin with, and Ford probably didn't help it adding on all of their doohickies....

I did a little more poking aound and it sounds like the tow trucks and school buses that use them have similar injector/leak/turbo/head gasket issues. It's not all Ford's fault - but they could have refused to buy it. They probably would have lost less money paying the emission penalties on the 7.3 than they have in paying for warranty work and buybacks on the 6.0.

I don't think it's that ugly.

I kind of like it.

And I can't wait to see the performance that is going to be able to be squeezed out of the twins. Does anybody have any specifications on what kind of turbo's they're going to be? Ford's probably going to make them about 5 times as complex as needed, and between wastegate settings and variable geometry/ variable vane controls I'm sure that they're going to be capable of being tuned to massive power rather eaisily. Not saying that they're going to actually function for long, but they're going to be making power for the first few miles at least.

And TWIN TURBO's is the greatest marketing ploy EVER in the Diesel market. As long as they don't have serious reliability issues, which isn't too far fetched, I'd expect market forces to force Chrysler and GM to start using twins within a few years.

Does Cummins have any twins experience?

The 7.3 is the 444E it is 444ci. The DT engine you're probably thinking about is a DT466. The 6.0 is the VT365.

Wannadiesel, you're right "the boy just aint right"!
