Spy Shots: New Ford Superduty

Am I the only one that thought of the "family truckster station wagon" from the Summer Vacation movie, when I saw the front end?? lol I can practically see Russ and Aubry in it driving to Wally World.
But seriously, I think Ford is asking a lot here. Just coming off the 6.No, to a totally new designed engine, AND an ugly looking truck. I would feel REALLY and I do mean REALLLLYYYYYY uneasy buying this truck in the first year or two of its production. (Which I wouldn't do at all, because it is way beyond 12 pack ugly ) Looks like Dodge and Chevy will pick up some blue oval loyalists in the near future.

That thing is ugly. It took me a while to get used to the first Super Duty, I loved the body style of my 97 F250, but eventually I grew to love my 99 too. I don't think this new body is gonna grow on me though. There is talk on the Ford diesel sites that the A pillar gauges will make it to production so who knows. Personally I would rather have the gauges I want, rather then what the manufacturer decides is important.

Man, I haven't seen this much negativity since Dodge revealed the 2002 / 2003 redesign. Sure there are a few who still think the 2nd gen Dodges look better, but not many any more. YMMV.

Can you say "Wagon Queen"..."You think you hate it now, wait til you drive it"
The front of that thing looks like the Clark Griswold's family truckster off of the movie Vacation

I thought I "heard" the front clip is just on hinges????? Nah, that can't be, that engine never has problems..... 60 lawsuits later, still trying to make a truck out of it.

Hmm... I noticed the BIG stiffening strakes on the roof. I used to work as a paramedic and our Ford SDs BOOMED whenever the trucks got over 70. I've even see one of our EMT drivers trying to drive at speed and hold the roof up with his other hand. Told the director I didn't want to ride with him anymore.
And we think the sheet metal on our Dodges is THIN?
The rest of the truck? It's just ugly.

So that's what I'm getting for a new company truck in August. I better let the dealer know to have lots of headlight assemblies on hand - they'll need them to replace often with the headlights that low and getting sprayed gravel.

That is one AWESOME truck. Combined with the new engine, UNBELIEVABLE HP and TQ, its a steal at 50K. Ford is changing my mind. Going to drive the first on that comes in.
The Ford folks, without exception, can style a truck a REAL man loves. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
