Sound change from turbos
Guys, this has been bugging me and I have no clue what's causing it. Both my 04.5 and my 85 Mack have been making a strange sound. I no longer have a turbo whistle, now they howl. I first noticed it on the Dodge, I guess by virtue of the amount of time I'm in it. An air filter change has no effect. Nothing blocking the inlet sides and no decrease in power. Absolutely no negative performance changes of any kind, they just howl instead of whistling. Any thoughts?

Have you been down to the range and not worn your ears? That would explain it easier (and be more likely) than two turbos suddenly changing their songs.
I had a .30 carbine go off about a foot from my left ear over 30 years ago, and I still can't hear the sound of crickets chirping out of my left ear. Maybe it wasn't the gunshot; it could just be that all the crickets on my left are quiet.

Did it start with the colder air of winter time? Noises can change by the cooler heavier air during the winter. I can easily noticed the change living in Texas. In the morning it can be 28 degrees and by the later afternoon 70 degrees, and I can tell the difference in the tone.
