So is there not enough pressure out of a propane tank to push through a N20 nozzle? Running a spark plug off of a relay and switch would provide constant spark correct?
Spark plug needs more voltage than just 12...more like 40,000. You could either run a flying magnet dampemner mounted trigger for an automotive coil and spark plug, or get an RV furnace/hot water heater ignitor and board (best choice). The Furnace unit will provide a steady spark for intermittent use and be hot enough to light either propane or oil. As for volume, I'll let you know. There's enough exhaust flow in a 5" stack for each nozzle to make a pretty good fire show. The trick is mounting the nozzle in the correct place in the stack. I'm going to use a dummy stack in place of one of my chrome ones and play with placement before I tamper with the real one. I'll keep you posted.

I had a set on my 77 Newport. A pair of spark plugs, manual choke, and I built a circuit using a 555 timer, astable to turn a pair of power transistors off,on,off,on........simluating the pluses from a distributor pickup, It fired 2 igntion coils!! Big ol fat spark! hmmm I think I remember seeing that old kit sitting somewhere.........So with smoke coming out, how much smoke would become fire, as much as some as you guys smoke, ya oughta get turns out and point em back, with enough smoke/fire jet powered stacks!

i was thinkin about propane in my y pipe or maybe eather. I have a old international with a in-cab handle to spray eather into the intake and if i took this unit and put it in my y-pipe with a constanet spark. Sounds like flame throwers to me. My grandpa said that he saw one of his buddys in his shoe box ford club ( ) has flame throwers on his '51 with propane. He says that they work pretty good. My homemade y pipe is 1/4 '' thick so i can drill and tap it. for off road use only of course

Wouldn't that maybe a lot of prpane to try and ignite, On my gasser setup the plugs were only about 6" from the tip, however, I'm not sure how it will work with a dedicated fuel for the flames only. As long as your stacks dont end up looking like those gag cigars where the tips blow up on 'em!

What about covering your stacks with some of that triple wall insulated stove pipe you use to go through the roof of your chimney for fireplace or woodburner. Comes in stainless steel and the outside would stay cool no matter how hot it got.

A can of hair spray produces some pretty cool flames.

I think he wants a flame throwin' truck...not an overloaded furnace burnin' steam locamotive.

No sparkplug ignitors needed.
