I have had my 04.5 for about 2yrs.
2 problems so far.... trans temp switch out and OD switch out.
both are inside the the trans.. not too expensive but enought to feel it in the pocket book.
and now the lift pump just went out, no replacement got TO mod it or use FASS or dealer dumb *Admin Edit 700.00

i got a good deal pending on a 04 powerstroke lariat dually. ??? i know about the probs in the 03 ford.
how are the 2004 powerstrokes????? it hAS 100.K ON IT AND i HAVE 128K ON MINE!

Honestly, from a past 2004 6.0 owner, look elsewhere. I do not know anybody that has a 6.0 and has not had issues. Everywhere I go, when I see a 6.0 owner(gas stations, etc.) I ask them about their truck, and 80% of them have had issues. Its your money though, do what makes you happy.

Sure, trade it in if you get about 15K boot.

Be careful, there are tons of 03/04/05 6.0's around here for a song. I dont see too many 5.9's around for a song.

Fix your LP with a $110 Walbro instead, with a couple of tapped banjo bolts for a bypass line. I have heard/read very good things about that setup, and is way cheaper than a FASS. This is a free country, so make your best choice, but do your research. Hope you can come to a good solution to keep the 5.9. Most 6.0 owners I know around here have been spending more money than you have on their trucks, with huge downtime along with it.

Have to say that reading posts for the last 2 years from many sites leaves me believing the 6.0 is NOT the engine to own, especially the '03 and '04 years. In years to come those 6.0s are going to have terrible trade-in and selling prices. If you want a newer used P/U, find a 5.9, going to be hard but in the end you will be happy you did.

huh?

well you guys sound right.

i love the engine in my truck.
maybe I'll give her another try.

there is a reason that the 6.0 is cheap. I see so many of them her in houston, some guys wont touch a dodge. dont know whether to beleive them or not.

the ONLY thing that attracts me to the ford is the interior of the truck. you cant argue the room you get.

but my bad boy sounds oh soooooo good!
Looking for a good 03 to 05 dually (cummins) 4door 4X4!

everybody at the races have dually's so I gotta keep up with he jones!
got the trailer now I need the rig

They dont call em

6. OH NO'S for nothing. Your problems with ur ram were minor in my honest opinion. However, if you do go with a ford, Lord forbid you have any issues with it, because you are gonna look at ALOT of downtime to get it fixed, and whats worse, no more warranty, so its gonna come out of your pocket..

If i was gonna go ford, id go back to a 7.3 powerstroke, but knowin what has been tried and true, 5.9 all the way is my vote..

I would stick with your 5.9L Cummins. It's just me, but I'm quite unconcerned with what "the Joneses" (or anyone lese for that matter) drive. I drive what suits my needs/budget/driving style. "They" didn't pay for my truck...who cares what "they" think...!

5.9

ok I think I am gunna stick wit the cummins.

fixed my lift pump myself. with the help of an old man named Jim in Arkansas.
sent me a cnc machined alum. peice that fits right where my stock LP went on the Fuel Filter Housing. using the stock bolts utlizes the stock rubber seal and all. has a nipple that a fuel line fits to perfect and then a seperate ftting for an optional Fuel Press gauge, (a MUST NOW__) then i installed an inline hi flow fuel pump thats a 2 wire just like the OEM LP.

works like a dream. and I get more than stock pressure and flow (GPH) took all of 1 hr to do it right.
TOTAL COST- $140.00

cummins

seems to me so far that even if the cummins breaks down its simple enough to fix the prob yourself.

what I dont like in the powerstroke is the lack of room there is to work on the dang thang!

inline 6 all the room in the world.

now I need a dually.
keep you eyes open. gotta put 22.5's on it!
this is my first diesel. I am 24, run my own business and I will never go back to gas, killed me on gas when I pulled a leaf on my trailer/
got like 3 MPG.
