Guys take it easy on this guy..
Its his truck, his money, his choice and w/e gets his jollys up for using the truck for what he wants is great for him.
Hes just looking for advice so why are you responding to this thread w/o giving him advice about what he wants to do.

Yes, I did say bumper (meant to say hitch)
We all know how weak the DC bumpers are and I'm sure my tow strap would cut right through the bumper like a dull hot knife in butter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A few of you guys bring up a good point, Maybe I would be better off in the dirt (atleast to start with)

I have done this quite a bit,and am very successful.First off you need to be very smooth and weight matters.You have a quad cab ,under the rear seat,put as many 70 lb sand bags as you can fit(they sell them in nice tubes here,they are rugged) You should be able to fit 4-6 bags easily.This is the best place to put weight midway on the truck,6 bags will cost you under 30 bucks,and then fill the fuel tank.Id put the t case in low range,truck in granny gear,and as you put tension on the chain(make sure your pull point is as high or higher than his),i would not touch the throttle,one foot on the clucth,one on the brakes.Hold the brakes,do not let him pull you backwards!Hold them until hes pulling good,then ease the clutch up until you feel it engaging and the engine start to load,release the clutch smoothly as you release the brakes,the truck will idle away slowly and you will pull him backwards at idle.then apply throttle if you want to,but you wontb e going very fast,but you will pull him every time,unless he shows up with a 3500 with toolboxes/racks/,etc.... then forget it,dont hook to him,he will yank you around the parking lot.if hes got a 2500,you will pull him unless he's added weight as well. You will be 8300-8500 easily with sand bags,and most 2500dmaxes are 7200 at the most unless its a crew cab ,long bed.Good luck,and whatever you do if your truck starts to hop or chatter,push in the clucth and brakes,dont hurt the truck to try to win.

If u really don't want no break anything both of should just put your trucks in 4hi and go.
Low is hard on the u joints and axle joints in the front.
Just go all out get the chain tight build a little boost when the flag drops floor it and dump the clutch to get that little jerk cause that little jerk is what will cause his to spin then you got him.
Ridin the brake when the flags drops is a no no. Thats the cheaters why out if your gonna do it go for broke.

Use a short chain. That way when it breaks it won't come through the back window and smack you a good one up side the head. No offense meant. Just a little advice to keep you above ground.

check his truck for weight. if you both go heads up with no added weight you should outweigh him about 1000 pounds. GM products aren't very good at this kind of thing because of the flimsy front end. the best thing to do is pull your brake fuse so the tailights are off and just hold the brakes till he starts to spin and then take off with him like a cheap plow.
I have never used a chain to do this and never will. I use an old tugboat rope and even straightened out a 6in drop hitch one night pulling a powerstroke. Good luck.

Ya know, me and a buddy did this same thing one time on 4-wheelers... First we did it on dirt and my old Polaris 500 drug him like a rag-doll (He had a Yamaha Grizzly)... He started crying "traction traction traction" and he talked me into moving it to pavement.... I felt really bad for him when it was all over, he snapped the rear axle into just behind the hub!!!!... Which is where I see this little "mines bigger than yours" contest headed! Good Luck!!!
