Should Bullydog employees own a Diesel Truck for dummies book????
So ! was at the Pinks All Out race this weekend at Houston Haceway Park, and last night at the test and tune there was a crazy fast 12v (11.1's spinning, and i think it was a standard). Well I walked by the bullydog booth to see if they had anycool stuff sitting out. They did have a nice looking jacked up YELLOW ****max pulling their trailer. So anyways I asked the guy how much their intake ran for and he asked what chip I was running and started telling me my juice was crap, so I humored him and let him try to sell me some stuff (you know, to boost his self esteem...) So then I asked him if he had seen that 12 valve run.....he was like "yea man, that thing is crazy fast....rumor has it that guy is stacking a triple dog and a crazy larry" I was like "really??? so this guy is stacking not one, but two programmers on a twelve valve??? And he said " yea, that thing sure is fast isn't it???" I was like "yea, but I didn't know y'all make programmers for 12valves yet"(just to see what else he had to say) So then he said, "oh yea, our chips arn't out yet, it must be an edge!!!!!"
i have never laughed so hard before in my life(well not in his face)
this guy was trying to tell me you could put a programmer on a 12 valve, but not just one, two!!!
i think that all people who sell diesel products should at least know what can and can't be done!!!
p.s. this guy said he was a tech for texasdieselpower out of weatherford i believe

That's too funny!! Yeah, if your gonna sell diesel products it may be in your best interest to get a salesman who is actually into the product or has a techinical background? Having sales skills is one thing, talking to guys or gals who know there stuff is another. Most service managers I have had at my many jobs have no clue about anything the techs/mechs are working on.

HAHA! Ive been in TX diesel power. When I was in there to buy a tip, the guy showed me a head he was porting by looking at some low res pics he printed from piers site. From what I could tell, he had butchered it. Then he began trying to sell me an HX40. This is back when my truck was just pods and small pump mods-not nearly enough power to spin that. He said add that turbo and Id be ready to get my heads ported...

You do have to give the guy a bit of a break. Not only does he have to keep all the various combinations of dodge products strait he also has to know and understand chev and ford. Not to mention all of the gasoline engine products for all brands (if they manufacture any for that)
By the time you hire employees to specialise on each of the brands they support, the product would be far too expensive for anyone to afford.
I think we have all opened our mouths and said something dumb at one point. only to immediatly realise it was plain wrong...

As I've gotten older, I've lost my patience with know-nothing people in service and sales jobs, spouting whatever nonsense comes to mind and getting paid a nice healthy salary for it.
If you're going to put yourself out there in public and try to sell expensive diesel truck parts and upgrades, then yeah, I think you should know what trucks have computers and what trucks don't. That seems pretty basic.
and yeah, you should also know the difference between a turbo housing and an exhaust brake...
and if you don't...well, they say that silence is golden..

In my line of work, I have the opportunity to meet and converse with a vast number of technical sales people. There are some very talented and knowledgeable sales men and women out there, however, the trend seems to be that the sales staff of manufacturing companies are knowing less and less about the product they are selling. I have no problem at all with a sales person that openly admits "I don't know" and puts me in direct contact with a product engineer or someone else who does know. What I have a big problem with is someone who clearly does not know the answer to a question and tries to tap dance around it with B.S..
In a perfect world, the person selling the product would be almost intimate with it and the motivation for selling the product would be the belief that their product is in fact superior to the competitor's product. This is simply not the case, often times the salesman is motivated only by money and which manufacturer will give them the biggest paycheck or bonus or perks. Just watch how often a salesman will jump from one manufacturer to another, or one product to another. This is in my opinion, a good sign of a poor salesman. Now, if your'e dealing with a salesman that has been with a company or that manufacturer's product for several years, chances are, they will have very good product knowledge, and also have some sort of belief that their product is superior and can explain exactly why.

This problem is certainly not limited to the diesel performance product sales personnel. It is seen in just about any industry and level in the market place from my experience. I deal daily with supposedly technical savy sales personnel in the computer and Internet security arena. Its bad when my entry level techs know more about the products than the VAR or manufacturer sales people. Just a sign of the times.

they have a website listing everything they sell. I say everything cause when I went in there asking about turbos, he said check our site, thats what we sell. they sell many boxes but none for a 12V, I dont know why , so shouldnt the guy just look at his site and remember there is no such chip. Plus their secretary told me that they specialize in Dodge. When I was in there they had 4 dodges they were modding plus a rail dragster they were dropping a CTD in. Plus the 3 guys working that day all drove Dodges. Seeing how we know the difference, shouldnt THEY???

Edge seems to really attract criticism for some reason. People have literally out of the blue just said to me "Edge sucks!" Not even driving diesel trucks! One was riding a mountain bike! Humanity is doomed.

that rail dragster wasnt tooo impressive......when i saw it run it was in the low low 11's!!!! the 12 valve i talked about in the first post was running jsut as fast as this dragster!!!!!and the dragster was sprayin nitrous too!!!!
