Question Shell's new diesel fuel in Australia

Hey Guys check this out. www.shell.com.au/aquadiesel I haven't tried it yet, as I haven't seen at a Fuel station. I wonder how the guys who put Nicktane kits and the like on their vehicles, will react if you ever get this fuel in the USA? It would have to show up in a UOA, as higher water content in the oil.

Here's the correct link

A watered down diesel called PuriNOx has been in use in Los Angeles and Dallas to combat smog, fleet owners who have been forced to use it hate it. Even though it's cleaner, power and fuel economy drop about 10%.

More info on PuriNOx here http://www.lubrizol.com/PuriNOx/questions.asp

so, do you suppose those powerstrokes that leak fuel into the crank case will have a milky colored oil?? It could be considered a cost saving measure by ford on 6.0 diagnosis.....

Brings up a question. Was talking to a chemical engineer who works for Mobil. He mentioned the water additive in diesel fuel and told me that adding a small amount of methanol to the mix -- along with a different suspension package -- could bring back the BTU/power loss while maintaining the emissions benefits and the thermal stability (reduced EGT's).

It's the same principle behind the Snow water/methanol injection system that some people here run.

Wonder why they don't do it? Cost?

I have always understood methanol above certain concentrations will damage the rubber fittings in fuel systems. what that percentage is, I don't know.
